I also lived on Raintree for a brief period of time after college.  In fact, that was my last time in Buffalo living in an apartment there before I moved to Rochester in 97.

We lived within walking distance of there, 91-03

That sucks. My wife is in a similar position. Absolutely no contact regarding vaccinations except that she'll be expected to giving them out at some point!

Update. My wife got the Pfizer today and I’m getting the Moderna on Monday.

Felt like crap all day... bad headaches... chills, finally broke just before my shift... must be like some people feel the flu vaccine... I dont react but did on this one... glad its over.

Glad you’re feeling better for your shift (and Christmas). I’m stuck here at work too on Christmas Eve. Hopefully you can enjoy the day a bit tomorrow now.

Anyone work up at Suburban? My brother in law just got admitted, convulsions, fever, covid positive. 😞

I’m so sorry.  Any update?  As someone who has had Covid now for nearly a month, I know how hard this is.

Just when to see my Dr and my bilateral pneumonia is better but only just a little.  They figure at least another month until it clears.

My brother-in-law is still in the hospital 😞

My sister and her 10 yr old still under quarantine for 2 more days, although my sister says she plans on staying isolated an additional 2 weeks. They both have symptoms, both covid 19 positive, but mild compared to my brother-in-law, who has felt a hard impact of this.

He works as a maintenance team member at 3M on Sawyer in Town of Tonawanda, she works at Milk Bone out by ECMC, both facilities have multiple cases reported with the numbers growing in these past 3 weeks to significant levels from what I understand.

The extended physical toll must be exhausting and dealing with the uncertainties and unpredictability of this pernicious virus must be mentally straining. An indication of a good person is someone who is dealing with one's own  challenges and yet is still able to support others who are undergoing their own challenges. You have a good heart. Just wishing you the best.

In speaking with my doctors, once the fever is gone for a few days they claim you are no longer contagious.  Allegedly. Anyway, has your brother had the plasma treatment or any of the new meds?  Do they have him on blood thinners to prevent blood clots?  I know this us hard, but he needs an advocate to make sure he is getting the best possible care.  Please get your sister a blood oximeter to make sure her blood oxygen level and that of your niece stay in the normal range.  My prayers are with your family.

I'm unaware as to how they are treating him unfortunately.

The Kaleida Protocol which both Buffalo General and Suburban are using has every patient on dexamethasone and remdesvir(as long as the patients kidney function will allow for it) when they have hypoxia.  Convalescent plasma is available for all patients, as long as their antibodies are negative. There are also two trials being run with plasma as well as regenron at all facilities as well. Fortunately NYS requires all hospitalized patients to be placed on DVT prophylaxis, at a lower dose, while admitted.  They will also check quantitative D Dimer levels which are Indicative if a patient is at increased risk for developing a blood clot if this is elevated we  have been using treatment doses of blood thinners.

Have Your Sister ask about proning, having him lay on His Stomach for a few hours, which has been proven effective.

And to further GA’s point after 10-14 days for a positive test as long as there is no fever and minimal other symptoms, patients can come off isolation.

I’ve received the same advice about laying on my stomach.  I think it does help.  My oxygen levels have increased sonce I started doing it.  However, my lung x-rays are still awful.

Yeah, unfortunately we have seen patients with bad X-rays for months afterwards. Are you on any home oxygen and are you linked with a pulmonologist by chance?

I just spoke with my sis.

Here is what I know. Rich is due to be released today, to make room in the hospital. His last convulsion was his day of admittance (5 days ago? Maybe 6? Unsure), he has a heavy dry cough still, they are sending some meds home with him along with prescrips, I'll get all that info together when she gets him home and I speak with her and I'll post later.

As for her and my nephew, she is awaiting a special release document? of some type from the county and since they live in Cambria up in Niagara County but he's in Erie County at the hospital something about awaiting approval from both counties. Don't know if she gets escorted due to tracing, she didn't mentiin that aspect.

Rich however, cannot drive for 6 months, the seizures, he will need to see a neurologist they said, which puts my sis in a bad spot as she's going to have to on disability? Until it's clear to leave him alone at home so she can return to work.

What a mess. I told her the family will be there for them so not to worry about bills, groceries, etc.

Like I said, what a mess. Covid can suck my....... I digress, anger solves nothing.

She should be able to leave him alone relatively soon,  I would get an appointment with the neurologist ASAP to confirm when. In the meantime have Her apply for the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) with Her Employer that will get the most flexibility for His Treatments and future appointments. He should also check with His Employer about their policies. Rich should not be left alone for tub baths or swimming.

Unfortunately the Erie County Health Department is very backed up with clearance and contact tracing, but Your Sister should be clear to drive and pick him up without the need for a escort.

Its Ok to be angry, because this whole situation sucks.

I'm home no oxygen.  My blood levels feel to 90 but then recovered to 93 in the hospital.  Since then I'm regularly at 95-97.  The worst part is the cough and fatigue.  I'm sleeping some 14-16 hours a day.  That said, I'm feeling much much better.

I have a great pulmonologist and saw him yesterday in person.  We've been video calls for the last 3 weeks since I got sick.  I started with him 3 years ago and used to get bronchitis 4 times a year, but this bout with Covid is only the second time I've been sick in the 3 years I've been seeing him.

This is good to hear, the recovery is more of a marathon then a sprint.  Keep up the good work.

Talk to both of their employers, they may have some Covid benefits in place.

AZ's handling of their trials has really put them behind.  Looks like they probably won't get EUA for several months, whereas the J&J vaccine could get it in early February.

It's already approved in the UK.
