I get the vaccine on Tuesday...2nd one in about 3 months.

i know its the canadian governments decision to do this, but has moderna and pfizer tested their vaccines with just a large gap between the doses?

I am not sure but I think I will be getting the Astra Zeneca if I had to guess.

Dr. Anna Banerji, an infectious disease specialist at the University of Toronto, told CTV News Channel on Tuesday that other provinces should follow British Columbia's move to extend the interval of vaccine doses up to 16 weeks given Canada's limited vaccine supply.

"I think it makes sense," Banerji said. "The ultimate goal is to maximize life and reduce suffering and the way we do that is by getting as much vaccine out to as many people as possible."

Banerji explained that the first dose of a vaccine gives a person immunity, while the second dose is for longevity.

"So if you give [the second dose] in one month, two months, it really doesn't make a difference as long as as many people as possible get the vaccine," she said."

Well we been shipping out some vaccines, but not the massive amounts that some expected.

We had a steady flow of Pfizer to chicago from here.   Most vaccins go with DHL.

Personally I only want the J&J one.

my mother is finally leaning towards getting a vaccine. i think my sister has been talking with her a lot. she is 71 years old and had lung cancer years back and had to get 1/2 of one of her lungs removed. besides that, she isnt in the best of health after breaking her leg years back.

i have been hoping for months she would get a vaccine and hope she decides soon before its available to everyone and impossible to get

to be honest, if I was old, I would not care about getting the moderna or pfizer ones, they work fine.   Its just that the long term effects of GMO food or in this case vaccines is such an unknown, they should never give it to young people that still want kids.

j&j vaccine is proven against british and south-african variant though.

I thought I read on BBC that Belgium, like Canada, was having trouble getting vaccines.  This could be bad memory, but if my memory is right, why ship them out?

I have a trip the day after my second shot. I've heard that shot can really knock you out for a couple days. Is it safe/alright to push back the second shot from 21 days after the first, to 26 days after the first?

Non-expert disclaimer:

It seems to be the general consensus that getting the second shot even up to 3 months after the 1st does not affect the overall effectiveness of the vaccine.  So you should be good.

I’ve also heard that most people feel pretty whipped out for a couple days after the 2nd vaccine.

All of Europe is having problem getting vaccins, And we produce them here, do we have the right to keep them from the rest of world ?

Most of the orders of our vaccins were placed on J&J and astrazeneca ( having huge isssues with EU) -   EU has a history of not allowing GMO food, so they were hesitant on GMO vaccins I suppose.

I just got my second shot of moderna and other than a minor headache.and a REALLY sore arm, i dont have any issues. I am tired today, but i think thats from the time change because i got up earlier than normal.

I am catching my wife's cold though.

Im not a dr and i dont play on tv, i am just sharing my experience and really i think you should ask your medical professional for the answer to this. The cdc has also commented on this but i cant find the article now

For both Pfizer and Moderna shots, they tested efficacy for the second shot being as late as 6 weeks after the first.

This is relevant to my wife who just got her second Moderna today, exactly 6 weeks after the first.  Our county is kind of a pain for scheduling and she couldn't make the appointment for the second shot as it was her first day back at work after medical leave for a knee replacement.  She tried to do it later that week but they didn't have Moderna so she just waited until this week since it is her spring break.

What he said.

When ours were being scheduled they gave us a week time frame

I got mine through cvs. They made me schedule both shots at once. If i had to cancel rhe second for some reason,  i wouldn't know what to do  i guess just make another 2 appointments and cancel the second

Just got my 1st shot at UB over the weekend.  Have to say I was pleasantly surprised.  All staff were both friendly and efficient.  Including the 10 minute wait time after the shot, it was only 25 min from the time I walked in the door to when I walked out.

For once in my life, NYS got something right. 😊

I have been thinking the last couple of days. How do truly know the vaccine works well with such a small amount of test cases.

Looking at nj positive cases is still not going down even though there are 1 million people vaccinated in the state. I wish i could see how many were from people who have been vaccinated

One in nine people vaccinated isn't even close to amount needed to slow transmission. Even 50 per cent means that half the people you come in contact with are potential carriers.

You also need to consider the number of people who have antibodies fron past infection.  Personally, I know more people who have been sick with covid than those who have been vaccinated.

It's being tracked. You should be able to find the data. It seems like getting sick after vaccination is rare enough that it makes news when it happens.

As for NJ, there was a dramatic drop, but it's on the rise again. A number of states are seeing the same thing. Nationally, we're leveling off at a fairly high number of daily cases. It feels like we've seen this movie before.
