Buffalo Bills: 2020-2021

Recommended Posts

Coaching showed it’s ugly head.  Why we never called an all out blitz on both 3rd downs is mystifying.  Edmunds is not good this year.  D line is trash.  We know for sure we can’t run with the top dogs yet.  Beane still has a lot of building g to do.

Mahomes has yet to be sacked on the blitz this year, FWIW

The flaws of this team are clear now.  Allen came back to earth and we have the worst defense in the league.  Very low chance we win the division.  It will be hard to win 9-10 games.

I'm still bewildered by the fact that this defense went from highly touted to trash.  Is it really injuries or has this defense been a facade?

Meh, I'm not concerned. The Bills traded defensive cap for offensive cap, and just like when the offense didn't show up it squandered the defensive play, the vice versa is true.

There are some areas of need to address, for starters, the lack of any cohesive ground game. For all of the talk on how the ground game isn't as important, I give you the Buffalo Bills as an example that it is. For reasons we all I'm sure know.

The kicking game, specifically field goals, yikes!

The defense front 4 or 5, specifically run stuffing interior linemen and outside rush/contain specialists, we don't have them, yet.

Still work to be done, but improvement overall from years past. On to the next game.

The Bills opponents that have beaten them are a combined 10-1.  That 1 loss happened to be at home against a team the Bills beat on the road.

Kick the Cheatriots butts this week in 2 weeks & they have a 3 game lead over them w/ a HtH w & at worst, they're 1 game ahead of the Fish w/ the HtH win on the road.

They have a brutal schedule this year.  (They get all 3 remaining undefeated teams; at least they already played 1 of them, & also the defending SB Champs, & the only team to have beaten the SB Champs so far this year; & the SB loser from 2 years ago.)  But so does the rest of the AFC East & they are 2-0 in division so far.

If they can stay relatively healthy, 11-5 is doable.  (12-4 is a very outside possibility as well.)  Of course, win out in division which is very doable & that 9-7 or 10-6 wins the division by at least 2 games.  To get to 11-5, win out the division, beat the Donkeys & Bungles, & 1 of the Chargers or Cards.  9ers are seriously injury prone this year, & they play the Stillers @ home.  Seattle on the road is the only game that should be pencilled in as an L.

Best guess is 11-5.

The good news is that we know Allen can play better, because he did it in the first 4 games.

The bad news is that they cannot win a playoff game if he plays like he has the past 2 games, which is how he played in the playoffs last year.

Coaching needs to be better.

Should’ve went for two after the last score instead of the extra point. When they didn’t, and KC scored on the ensuing drive, it put the game out of reach.

When asked about this post game, McD instead of honestly answering the question, said “I’m not gonna play crystal ball.”

Well, if Crystal Ball can run better than Singletary and Moss, you absolutely should play him/her.

This loss is on Allen -- specifically his poor accuracy.

The loss was on a bunch of things, but I agree Allen was atrocious and the offense generally not showing up is a much bigger concern than the defense.

The D has been more or less crap all season; no surprises there.

What changed the last 2 weeks is Allen and the offense going from great to terrible.

If that doesn't get sorted (I'm not sure it can be) we won't do anything this year.

Hate to say but teams now know how to zone defend Allen. He has no idea what is going on out there when man D is not the scheme (like the 1st 4 weeks). This is a mirror image of Trent Edwards 4-0 start with all the MVP talk. Defense figured it out and the rest is history.

As far as the Bills D, it was NEVER that good. Look at the scrap heap of QBs they played last year. The only good one they beat was Dak. Buffalo plays all the top QBs this year and without a pass rush, you will continue to see this every single remaining game. Patriots, Wilson, Big Ben, Murray, good luck. Until they beat the Pats, I will continue to see those as losses. I see 9-7 best case scenario so it's most likely take the division or miss the playoffs.

Well, I think it was more a matter of him departing from his mechanics and simply missing on a bunch of open throws.

It seems like in this year's NFL, you need to score at least 27 to beat the good teams.  If you have open receivers on 3rd down and just miss them by 8 feet, you're not going to win.

I just don’t agree.  Tremaine Edmunds = Risto

Looks the part and does things that get certain fans excited but in the end I don’t think he’s very good. I always see him chasing the play and not addressing it at the point of attack. The new John Digiorgio.

Interesting.

I think that overstates matters. He saw plenty of zone in the first four weeks. There's clearly been some tweaking of how teams are defending him, though - it's on him/them to sort that out. And I don't buy that it's beyond him to figure out what defenses are doing, showing. I'm not saying he'll get back to the scintillating pace of those first 4 weeks, but I'd bet on him getting more right than wrong.

It's even worse when you hit them in the hands on third down and they drop it.

Can't change the past. Learn from the mistakes and move on.

Right the ship against the Jets and full steam ahead with a home game against the Patriots.  Both of these are must wins, IMO, and could result in a commanding lead in the division.  The Pats have the 9ers and us; the Dolphins have the Rams and Cardinals.  If we win both our games, we might have a 3-4 game lead in the division *before* accounting for the head-to-head wins.
