This afternoon, the Buffalo Sabresannounced that their team Skills Competition would return for a second season. The event will take place on Sunday, January 5 at KeyBank Center.

Last year, the more than 10,000 fans were in attendance for the contest which featured special blue-and-gold uniforms, autograph signings from past players, and of course, the skills competition itself. This year, a new set of special jerseys will be worn by the players which will commemorate the 1978 NHL All-Star Game that was held in Buffalo.

The contest will feature several events like the hardest shot competition, accuracy showdown, and shootout challenge, just to name a few.

“The team had a great time at last year’s Skills Challenge, and we’re excited to face off against each other again this year,” Jack Eichel said, per the team’s official press release. “We’re all pretty competitive guys, so we’re looking forward to showing off our skills in front of some of the best fans in the league.”

This year will have a surprising competition between hutton and a snail to see who skates off the ice slower

Hutton is expected to be the slower of the two. He was clocked at 0.0009 miles per hour at the end of the lightning game

I can’t think of anything more boring to watch than this team attempt to show their “skill”. Other than Eichel, not a single one of them can hit the broad side of a barn with their shots. I know this “showcase” is more for the kids to see their “heroes”. For an adult I can’t imagine anything worse.
