Mike Babcock Fired by Leafs

Recommended Posts

Hey Mike? Wanna stick it to the Leafs? Come aboard as an advisor or pres of hockey ops. Stay off the Bench for a couple years. See how it feels.

Mrs. Babcock's shopping budget won't be affected a-tall.  Mike's still going to get the cash (almost said "Benjamins" but that's not correct here).

He is going to get his Loons

I believe his K was heavily front loaded such that he's already received most of the cash anyway.

I guess he didn’t have enough future HoF players.  ?

Just think how good they'd be if their GM went and upgraded the defense instead of paying Tavares.

I am pretty sure it was Shanny that wanted JT and made the GM do it.  I don't even know why they have a GM.

I’m still the last guy that won anything in Toronto

King Clancy is still paying for firing me.

Tavares wasn’t the mistake, Nylander was a huge mistake. He should have traded him for a good D

About 10 miles from my house.  Looking forward to a visit.  I was always a Duff's guy growing up however.

Back on topic for a second, I have never been a Babcock fan.  He won one Cup in Detroit with a stacked roster.

Wow...kinda saw the writing on the wall

I thought they would at least give him a full season to do some damage in the playoffs. He did damage alright. In the first 6 weeks....

Leafs as composed are General Manager Dubas doing., Got to feel Babcock was set up to fail. They now have Sheldon Keefe in place. We shall see if it to good or bad.,

Their GM did upgrade the defense. He brought in Muzzin and Barrie. Maybe would have been better off with Gardiner than Barrie, but still.

How on earth was he set up to fail?  Having the best centre spine in the NHL last season?  They have stars throughout their forward group and a legit goalie in net.  He lost the team and it's on him.

Immediate fan reaction out Toronto seems they would rather Dubas have gone than Babs.  Interesting.

We can disagree. Roster as composed not one that has won come playoff time. Simply not enough grit. Barrie on defense a major fail to this point., Removing vets for low priced players pls error with backup goalie a few obvious problems.,  talking talent special teams power play and kill at this point a absolute mess. Matthews , Marner while talented still both much to learn.,. Tavares like Marner a tough seasons start with injuries. .,

Now we get to see what Sheldon Keefe can do.

I would bet he's going to be an excellent coach, especially with the young team they have.

I wanted him in Buffalo so bad when we hired Housley, and again when we hired Krueger...he's going to be a good one, and now is a perfect time for him to take over.

You think Keefe is going to drag those guys out of the mud?

I don't know, but Mike Babcock was way too stubborn to pull their team out of this particular funk for a long time
