Sabres Power Play Strategy

Early in the season the Sabres were not using the skate towards center ice, and then drop the puck back to Eichel in the Sabres zone.  Now I noticed they are back to that again.  Not sure if it based on other teams PK strategy against the Sabres, or something else, but the drop pass into their own zone is maddening, because usually it ends up with Jack trying to skate the puck in, while the other 4 guys are standing around waiting at the opposing blue line.

Yeah, I find that drop pass too predictable and dependant on the one guy. It can be one option but they need to mix it up. Even dump  and chase can work if you have speed and aggressive forecheckers hounding the puck.

I think part of the problem with the drop pass is that they do it in their own zone, so there's zero element of surprise.  I think they should have a good puck carrier move the puck up ice, then pick the best option:  Pass forward into the zone (when they do this, it's typically Jack to Reino), dump the puck in, carry it into the zone, or drop it back to Jack.

I get the concept of Jack carrying it in and drawing defenders to himself, but that's only going to work if he can get it to a teammate so they can set up the power play.  Too often he tries to "surprise" ? them and carry it straight to the goal, or the defenders knock it away from him as he enters.  Both are unacceptable.
