On the bright side, it would appear the Panthers have cut ties with that pointless goon Petrovic (famous for getting his face smashed in three times in that one game by Evander Kane).  Yay.

The Panthers left Jon Marchessault (who had just scored 30 goals for them) exposed to Vegas so they could protect Petrovic.

Marchessault has put up 52 goals and 134 points in the 2 seasons since for Vegas. They also traded Reilly Smith to the Knights for a 4th since they couldn't protect him either because they went the 4-4 route solely for Petrovic. Smith has 41 goals and 113 points since.

Annnnd, he's currently in the A for the Bruins.  Roster Management!

This happened some time ago.  Seems the Panthers traded him to Edmonton last season and he signed with the dastardly (seems fitting) Bruins, but he was sent down.

His name is Yugoslav (Petrovic = Son of Peter) and Petro is typically Serbian name, so there you go.

This should be another good test for the Sabres.  Florida has had their number.  Is Hutts back in net?

LET'S GO BUFFALO!

I always hate Florida games. They tend to be the team we look worst playing. Hopefully the boys can change that tonight.

As stated above this team seems to be Kryptonite to the Sabres.  This'll be a good test.  And this Krueger Kool-aid DrinkerTM expects them to pass with flying colors.

Really expect for no particular reason for Ralph to have the boys flying tonight.

haha always welcome ?

People were upset over that ?

Yea. It was weird.

We're going to lose someone. Don't compound the error. If you can trade a 3rd to get them to take zemgus or whatever, awesome. If not, and they want a defender, well you still have Dahlin, Montour, and someone else good plus that prospect pool.

The Panthers have been known to make mistakes. From time to time. Dear, oh dear.

Yupppp.

Remember when ppl got upset we lost Carrier?

I'm one of those. I wanted to expose Ennis over Carrier. Still glad we protected Ullmark.

This isn't quite how it went. People were mad we actively protected Ennis, who was horrific that season, over Carrier, who was a part of the best possession line the Sabres had had in years up to that point.

Once it became clear that Ennis was protected because Minnesota wanted him as part of the Scandella trade, the anger evaporated, as the move then made a lot more sense.

But that was with the gift of hindsight. At the time we were eager to feel our anger and use it.

Looking ahead, as a Seattle-area person I'm excited to get a local team and to pillage other rosters. I'm also excited that JBott is going to have a protected young core and then likely a bunch of folks on one-year deals. If we swing a trade to keep a certain someone, that's good too.
