Marchessault has put up 52 goals and 134 points in the 2 seasons since for Vegas. They also traded Reilly Smith to the Knights for a 4th since they couldn't protect him either because they went the 4-4 route solely for Petrovic. Yay. This happened some time ago. Seems the Panthers traded him to Edmonton last season and he signed with the dastardly (seems fitting) Bruins, but he was sent down. We're going to lose someone. Don't compound the error. If you can trade a 3rd to get them to take zemgus or whatever, awesome. People were mad we actively protected Ennis, who was horrific that season, over Carrier, who was a part of the best possession line the Sabres had had in years up to that point. But that was with the gift of hindsight. At the time we were eager to feel our anger and use it. Looking ahead, as a Seattle-area person I'm excited to get a local team and to pillage other rosters. I'm also excited that JBott is going to have a protected young core and then likely a bunch of folks on one-year deals. If we swing a trade to keep a certain someone, that's good too.
