Because they MIGHT be able to squeeze in 82 games by the end of May, but that would almost push the Finals back into early August. Would they really give the SC only 1 month off before TC 2 years in a row? '21-'22 would almost have to wait until mid-November to start & if they really pushed it they MIGHT be back on a "normal" schedule by Seattle's 2nd season. After the NBA is done, but before the NFL is playing more than bad exhibitions, & before the pennant race really heats up in baseball. They played outdoors in a Vegas casino parking lot back in 1991. The ice in Dallas 8 years later was slush. No compelling reason to believe it wouldn't still be during the summer.
