Reinhart contract extension

With the signings of Konecny and Boeser it is time for JBotts to extend Reinhart and not wait until next off season.  We know what type of player he is. He will get you between 20-30 goals and 55-65 pts.  If you extend him now you don't take the chance on him having a great year and demanding even more.

I believe a 6 year $39 million contract with an AAV of $6.5 is appropriate for Sam.

For this reason, I’m betting Sam is perfectly happy to wait till the season is over to negotiate

Did Botterill say something about waiting until January to negotiate? I thought I read that somewhere.

If true, that’s a pretty questionable decision from the GM.

I highly doubt Reinhart would even be open to an extension right now (missed the boat on that last summer), but you’d think they’d least approach him about the possibility, before the AAV gets even higher next off season.

Two ways to look at the negotiations.

1.Reinhart- I had a good year last year playing with Jack and Skinner. They are talking about playing me on second line where I may not produce as much to help the team out by having more balanced lines.  I can cash in now.

2. Reinhart- By playing on second line, I can show I can produce without Jack and Skinner.  I will wait until next year and demand higher salary as a player that can drive a line.

So it's a questionable decision by the GM but you then acknowledge it's doubtful Reinhart is open to the extension right now.

What if, Reinhart told botterill he wants to wait and botterill said okay.

Then that’s a different story. But that’s not what the basis of my post was, was it? I was responding to the purported idea that BOTTERILL made the choice to not attempt a negotiation.

Here's the key question IMHO:  If you think that a team can have 4 or maybe 5 highly-paid guys, since Skinner, Eichel and Dahlin are locks for 3 of those slots -- do you want to commit to Reino as being the 4th?  i.e. are you willing to lock in your core for the next 5 years as Skinner, Eichel, Dahlin and Reino?  Or do you want to wait and see if you can find someone better? Because once you give Reino that 7- or 8-year deal -- you are married to him and married to that core.

This, and you want to trade for Laine?

Sadly, my expert opinion is that Samuel Rineheart doesn't fit the mold of what Jay Boderil is trying to build here.

I would not be surprised to see him shipped out at some point here in the not too distant future.

Who tf is Samuel?

Reinhart is a better hockey player than Skinner so yes.

My ranking would be as follows
Eichel
Skinner
Reinhart/Dahlin
Johansson (speculation)/Montour
Risto
Rodrigues (Wouldn't be surprised if others had him lower)
McCabe
Vesey
Larsson
The rest

Be ready for it, because you are about to get ripped a new one by the Liger.  (How DARE you put Dahlin at 3/4 overall.)

Hoping Reinhart can be signed for 6.5-7MM/ year over 7-8 years, but expect he'll earn &¡ want closer to Skinner's deal.
