I've got The Great One shooting for me, so I don't even care who the goalie is.

I got Yanni Gourde vs Ed Belfour.   Mainly because I don't know any of the other guys on my bday but I doubt they were shootout wonders.  Slim pickings for me 😛

The best hockey players born on my birthday are HoF goalie Ken Dryden and HOF defensemen Bill Gadsby (played from 1947 to 1966).

The best  forward is Greg Polis, with a respectable 174 goals and 343 point in 615 games. He had 4 seasons with 20+ goals and 1 season with 30.

The Goalie of the Cup winning team was Ken Dryden.

So, could I have Dryden vs Dryden which is a stalemate and I  live another day?

Phil Esposito shooting on Glen Hanlon...I'm feeling pretty good that I'm living to see tomorrow...

Probably but recall that  Espo was a garbage goal scorer and feasted on rebounds.

I remember that he was a tripod in front of the net during power plays, getting those kind of goals.

His cardio was other worldly, he used to often have 2-3 minute shifts. LOL.

Yes.  I was a different game then, he was not a 200 foot player but boy could he score. He lead the league in goals 6 years in a row, led in total scoring 5 of 6 years.  Having Orr on the ice helps a lot too.

LOL. I wonder what Bobby Orr’s  numbers were on zone entries...

Orr. Bad knees.  BUST.

Actually, he was my favorite player growing up before the Sabres were in existence.  Can't believe I EVER liked a Bruin.  2 best skating d-men I ever saw; Orr and Coffey.

This is a pretty easy choice for anyone who graduated in 2005 (and, I suppose, 1919, though it's unlikely anyone who would qualify is still alive - the oldest living person would have had to graduate at 16.)

I have HOF Darryl Sittler going against Goalie HOF Dominik Hasek, I'm most likely a dead man unless I can have Ted Nolan distracting him.

How could you not know the great Ric Seiling?  The guy the Sabres drafted giving the NYI the chance to take that bum Mike Bossy with the next pick ... (inset that just kill me now thingie here)

Teemu Selanne on Martin Brodeur. Epic showdown, I win.

I could also go with Teppo Numminen, or Hakan Loob, my favorite hockey name ever.

It looks like he was 2 of 6 in his career, fwiw. One conversion came in the playoffs.

I have a buddy who used to joke that Ric Seiling would take a penalty shot by attempting a feckless wrap-around.

I would love to see that one.

If it's Hasek, the coach won't let him shoot anyway.
