Yes. He's got 30g, 40a written all over him.

In one season, right?

Can you fix the thread title? His name is spelled wrong.

I agree. He's a good dude. Seems personable and smart,  but any insight you could share would be great.

Sorry, you can't possibly know if he's a good person or not.

One of his parents is a judge.

ROR is not a good comparison, this kid’s fast and all straight lines.

He has 60-70-Point skills, but he’s not going to get 80.His shot is good and so is his awareness, but he’s not slick

He sticks his nose in and works his ass off.

You can’t possibly know what Pegula says to Botterill, yet you claim to anyway. Light bulb moment?

I need details on this opinion.  Please.

Interesting stuff from the Athletic’s ScottWheeler:

These are players who, if all goes well, have a chance to be first-line forwards

Forwards:
Jack Hughes: 80-90 point centre. Potential second team All-Star.
Kaapo Kakko: 70-80 point winger. Perennial All-Star.
Alex Turcotte: 60-75 point centre. Dominant two-way forward. Can run PP1.
Dylan Cozens: 60-70 point centre. Coveted size and speed.
Kirby Dach: 60-70 point centre. Coveted size and puck protection.
Peyton Krebs: 60-65 point forward. First-line winger or second-line centre.
Matthew Boldy: 60-65 point first-line winger.
Cole Caufield: 40-plus goal scoring winger. Dominant powerplay threat.
Alex Newhook: 60-65 point centre. Borderline world-class skater.
Trevor Zegras: 60-70 point forward. Powerplay reliant playmaker. Pest.
Long shots: Bobby Brink (potential 60-point winger) and Arthur Kaliyev (potential 35-goal scorer).

Better one coming.

Dylan Cozens – C, Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL), 6'3.25", 183 lbs.

“Botterill doesn’t like the CHL!!” = myth.

If the Sabres don’t like Cozens, they simply don’t like 5v5 difference makers.

Big and strong with excellent speed and surprising agility, Cozens isn't going to take long to make a dent. I’m not at all suggesting the Sabres rush him into the mix, but he’s explosive enough (and man-child enough) to immediately compete against NHL competition. I just don’t see the point in doing so. Let him cook, lead a World Junior team, continue to dominate, build off his 34-goal, 84-point season, etc.

Cozens is a hard-driving kid who owns the center lane and thus commands attention whenever he’s on the ice. He’s a magnet for both pucks and defenders, and that bodes well for his teammates. As a shoot-first pivot, he launches heavy shots with a quick release that sees him score from range at his current level, but you can easily see his power game and hands quickly elevating pucks from in tight when he hits the NHL.

Part of his quick path to NHL readiness is the fact that he’s an extremely reliable 200-foot player as well. The work ethic is in place as he consistently uses his quick feet, long stick, and big frame to do his job. He’s a very low-risk player with a legitimate top-six ceiling out of the box. I’m trying to identify deficiencies and I’m not seeing much to be worried about.

Adding a player like Cozens would add a versatile, unique element to the Sabres center ranks. Keep in mind, I would personally simplify his life and bring him along as a winger when he first enters the league, but regardless the jam he’d bring to the table would be a more than welcome addition

That was Kris Baker from a couple days ago.

I'd give 5 or 6 games. Let him really get a feel and then send him back

But what if he's their best option at 3C?

That said, I'm not a huge fan of this pick because of his lack of elite skill.  It's a skill game these days and I'm afraid he'll never get there... hope he does tho.

I've seen equal 4th overall and 7th to the Sabres in mock drafts.  I just finished watching the video from earlier in the thread.  Nothing flashy, but positionally sound with a solid shot.

Too bad his buddy Jake Elmer is signed to the Rangers.

In the scouting reports there's some disagreement on his hockey IQ/sense.  Some say it's great, others say it's lacking.  I think the video makes it look like his hockey IQ is fine.

That's fair. Let's give him a chance though.
