No. Terrible idea.

There is no one interesting at 7.  This isn't Ristolainen's draft year.  Trade it and get a roster player.  Or trade down and get more picks and more chances at someone who might matter.

That's just not close to being the case.

Who would you look to target in a trade with that pick? And if there is no one interesting does that devalue the worth of the pick and therefore the return?

I simply do not understand how anyone can look at this draft and say that there isn’t anyone interesting who will be available at #7.  How do you define interesting?  What type of prospect would need to be there for you to want to draft them?

This is where my inability to speak meme becomes a handicap.

Seriously, though, you know prospects better than just about anyone.  Whom should I be excited about in this draft?  Because I'm just ... not.

I definitely think we should stay at 7.  There will be a very good player there for us who will help us in a few years from now.  I just hope Botteril has the patience because none of these guys are ready to play in NHL next year. (or possibly the year after)

I can read the list at the top of the page.  Why is any of these particularly exciting?

Podkolzin might be the one you want, just don't know much about him.

I think if its between Boldy and Caufield at 7 we go Boldy.

The Sabres interviewed Pod.

Is probably the most physically ready for the NHL, but is in the KHL for at least two more years.

Turcotte, who unfortunately will be gone, is the most exciting prospect of that group. After ten minutes of listening to him talk about hockey and his teammates at the USNTDP, I wanted to go and lace them up and I haven’t played hockey since Ronald Reagan’s Second Term.
