How bad have the Sabres been recently?

Bad enough that if they aren't careful the Flyers are going to catch and pass them...currently they are only 4 points behind them with an extra game played...the team that was at the bottom of the standings for much of the first half of the season has won 7 straight and are on fire...

Sabres better get it in gear...and not the way they did against the Blackhawks...

If the Sabres flounder through this 7 game homestand, I think they will be a lock for a top 5 pick this year. I still think they end up picking 7 or 8

Flyers are proof of what I am saying. First half of the year they were not that bad but they had no goaltending at all and that led to a lack of confidence, giving up etc. Now they got the kid up and he looks like the real deal and suddenly they are winning the close ones.

In the win streak, we were not that good, but we had big saves at big moments. Since then Hutton has let in soft ones often and is rubbish and Ullmark is better but still hot and cold. If we had the kind of goaltending Philly is getting right now (or Montreal or Boston) we wouldn't be having a lot of the conversations we're having. We'd be overlooking some of the issues. Some of those defensive lapses would not be goals against and we'd still be a playoff team. Goaltending is everything in this league.

Well, let's lay those cards right out there on the table.

They have been bad enough to go from the #1 ranking in the League in early December to the bottom 15 in the league in early February, that's how bad they've been. I mean really, stop and think about that for a moment. This team has ***** the bed so bad that the maid just refuses to change the sheets and room service knocks on the door and runs before it's answered.

Maybe but the type of giveaways we have night in and night out 3-4 times a game are ones that you might see any average team do once a game and good teams do once every 2 or 3 games...we have an alarming rate of really really bad turnovers that are of our own doing that give the other team chances that are pretty hard to stop.

yes we do, but if you get great goaltending, you forgive them.
