Not sure why everything needs to be qualified. The trade involved two AHL players with little to no NHL future. It doesn't really seem like the time to cast aspersions.

What aspersions am I casting?

Which of my statements isn’t true?

Isn’t Bailey another in a long line of failed prospects drafted by TM or DR? We had 9 2nd and 3rd rd picks in 2013 and 2014.  Only one player has earned a permanent role in the NHL and we traded him to Colorado.  That doesn’t include the 2 2nd rd picks TM traded away to get 2103 4th rd pick Fasching.

Don’t the players traded have nearly identical numbers?

Isn’t Bailey younger, taller and heavier?

I’m sorry but factual statements aren’t attacks on TM/DR reputations.  Instead they are the brinks from which their reputations are derived.  Notice that neither man is currently serving as a GM in the NHL.

These are the Boston Bruins' second-round picks from 2007-17.  Tell me they're so much better than Murray and/or Regier.  Yes, you are promoting an agenda.

Jack Studnicka

Ryan Lindgren

Brandon Carlo

Jakob Karlsson

Ryan Donato

Linus Arnesson

Alexander Khoklachev

Ryan Spooner

Jared Knight

Maxim Sauve

Tommy Cross

I'll bet you've heard of three of these guys, and one of them, you've only heard of because of his father, because Donato hasn't done anything in the NHL. Boston has "hit" on 2 out of 11 second round picks. The hit rate on second-round picks is no worse under Murray/Regier than it is anywhere else.

Obviously you didn’t do your research.  Spooner (2010), Donato (2014), Karlsson (2015) and Carlo (2015) are full time NHL players with the Bruins, except Spooner who has 300+ games and is now on the Oilers. Lindgren (2016) is a second year pro who just earned his 1st call up.  From 2012 to 2014, they also hit on 3rd rd pick Grzelcyk, 6th rd pick Benning, 4th pick Heinen. From 2010 to 2015 the Bruins have drafted 7 NHL players drafted outside the 1st rd.

Now compare to us.  McCabe (2012) 2nd rd, Compher (2013) 2nd rd and Ullmark (2012) 6th rd.  Guhle could make it 4.

Boston 7 Buffalo 3.

Sticking to the second round for a moment:  Karlsson is not exactly an NHL regular.  He's filled in for injuries. Just like...Bailey?  Lindgren is a complete unknown.  Donato is filler.  Meanwhile, you're missing Corey Tropp (100+ NHL games).  Similar hit rate.

Now, if you want to expand to later rounds, you're missing McNabb, Foligno, and Byron.  Again, similar hit rate.

Want to criticize Murray and/or Regier for some things they actually did wrong?  Have at it.  But this is becoming a bit like the "Lindy Ruff attempted to murder Luke Adam" (2d round, nearly 100 NHL games BTW) stuff.

2009 and 2007 picks are meaningless to this rebuild.  We are talking about this team right now and players, if we knew how to draft, might be helping us now.

Also BOS only has one injured player and both Donato and Karlsson are still with the team, good try though.

Boston has 15 players on their roster that they drafted or signed from college.  We have 10.

Don’t forget it was the genius TM who traded McNabb (363 NHL games) and 2 2nds to get Fasching.  Byron was dumped in 2011 after only 8 games in Buffalo.

Interesting you added the college FA part when the convo id about middl round picks.  How is the comparison when you just use draft picks on the roster?

12 to 8

Also of our 8, we have 6 1st rd picks, 1 2nd and 1 6th.

Boston has 3 1sts, 5 2nds, 3 3rds and a 4th in their 12.

Boston drafted Hunwick in the 7th rd in 2004 and Sobotka in the 4th rd in 2005.

How, he was drafted in 2001.

How?  You are twisting and turning to skew results that show pretty much that a perennial very good team in the league has only a marginal difference in their rate over a fairly long period of time.

Marginal difference?  They have 15 players they developed and we have 10.  They also produced a myriad of others they traded away including Hamilton and Sequin. They have our drafted us 2 to 1 and by a wider margin after the first rd.  Just looking at their current roster.  We have 2 players we drafted after the 1st rd. They have 9.

Luukkonen, Laaksonen, Asplund and Davidsson will change the ratio.

Those GMs are gone, all hail JBot.
