GDT - Devils @ Sabres, 7:00pm MSG, 1/8/2019

North Buffalo

Recommended Posts

Sabres are not playing nor are NS, JSB or 11 starting this thread. Sabres kick butt taking Jersey to the burn pile.

https://winnersandwhiners.com/games/nhl/1-8-2019/new-jersey-vs-buffalo-prediction-5184/

Usual rules apply...

Sabres need to make NJs Santini look like a rented mule.  His Dad owns the rink I play at in Brewster and his Uncle sharpens my skates and refs my games.  I need bragging rights. Go Sabres... my reputation is on the line.

GMT..... Greenland Mountain Time??? NS can you verify that please, you live the closest

This is correct.

GMT is 45 minutes ahead of NLT, which is 30 minutes ahead of NST, which is the same as NBT and PET, but not the same as MAT (but MAT should be the same as NST).

I hope everybody is clear on this.

I think this is were this should go ...

MUST WIN!!

GO SABRES!!

I'm confused about this thread. It's a discussion about timezones?

I didn't get to watch the Boston game until Sunday and it was not great. It sounds like Jack is close to returning, but maybe not tonight? I don't want him to rush back, but we're close to being out of a playoff spot for the first time in since like October/November and I'm now spoiled and find that unacceptable, even for a young team missing their captain that I didn't expect to make the playoffs this year before the season started.

I know Sam was out this weekend because he was "sick" but do we know for sure he's playing tonight?

Either way, No excuses. This team must make the playoffs. Therefore they MUST WIN.

The Sabres take on the Devils in a home game tonight at KeyBank Center. The Sabres are hoping to have Jack Eichel back in the lineup after a 3 game absence. Eichel will be decided on during the morning skate. Reinhart is probably out for the game with an illness. Buffalo has been bad in the last 5 games scoring only 9 goals. Their powerplay has been abysmal and they honestly look to be in a midseason slump.

So what is the good news? The good news is that the last 5 games don't matter. Tonight matters and the team should hopefully be well rested and ready for a home tilt. They need a win tonight to keep pace with the other eastern conference playoff teams.

The Devils have 2 shutouts in their last 5 and a better record of scoring. Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri lead the team in points with the 2nd year player Nico Hischier in third. Our defense will need to at the very least account for them tonight. Taylor Hall may not play as he has been out with a LBI.

Projected lineups: (Note Eichel is currently not in these)

GMT = Greenwich Mean Time.  It's the time zone for Greenwich, London and the Royal Observatory.  It's just a time zone, although it's also generally the same as Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) which is what all systems use to base their time variations on.

But we should probably update the thread to reflect the game itself... despite superstition... they did go on a 10 game winning streak with normal GDTs this year.

I'm going to the game on a school night. Lord, I hope it's a good showing. I also hope that Eichel plays.

Based on the charts I saw this morning (one is pasted below (I love that guy's stuff)), this Devils team plays a pretty open style.

Also, it fascinates me that, while people might understandably think that the Hurricanes regret losing Skinner, their #fancystat shot rate is among the league's very best (i.e., they give up a small # of SA's and they generate a lot themselves).

Sorry, but you have that all wrong.

I explained it all very clearly up thread a bit.  OK?

Housley - Sam Reinhart is still feeling under the weather, but he still hasn't arrived this morning. That will be more of a game-time decision. The good news is that Zemgus Girgensons is expected to return to the lineup tonight. #SabresBuffaloSabresNHL.png

Hasn't it been that way for a couple years? Their big problem has been actually scoring and atrociously bad goaltending.
