The request was to stop bypassing the filter, not to stop swearing. You can use all the words you'd like that get caught in the filter, that's why it's there. If you bypass it you are just being a jerk about trying to get around the filters that SDS has in place already. I like you as a poster and understand your style of posting. I agree that you and others use of profane language are not obscene, as far as I can tell anyway. Also, initially you are correct the filter just eliminated the bad words and left blanks to the imagination. That was not ideal and Scott fixed that. If these kids have actually been to, watched, or listened to hockey games, they have heard the F word multiple times a season. Sheltering children from censored curses on a sports message board in a time where the lead story on the evening news is payoffs to pornstars, or how powerful men can brag about grabbing women by the genitalia,... well it seems a bit asinine and tone deaf consider the lexicon of today. When you manage something there are behaviors you let slide because most of the time you don't really consider it to be worth the effort to try and address. Every so often, a person will point out that those behaviors are a concern. It's at that point you have to make a decision, do I act upon that concern knowing that I had the same concern already or do I tell that person to get lost? SDS chose to act upon it. Your continued tirade about it is exactly why it probably was not addressed in the past. Overall, as I see it, SDS made a request of the membership. You can choose to honor it or not. In his opinion it was time to take an action and he took it. I think he addressed it fairly well and tried to provide substance. He's trying to apply what he considers a REASONABLE control. You are the one who keeps bringing up the other stuff. Perhaps SDS will choose to act upon it now that you've made a request of it. You never know! Sorry Dark, I can't follow this rabbit hole you are going down. You are making this into something far bigger than what it is/was. This doesn't have anything to do with making this forum a *child safe environment* and is a simple don't use !, #, @, etc to replace vowels in swear words so they appear and aren't filtered out.
