He's being brought in to smooth over the relationship with PSE, no way he does anything to mess with that mission.  The question is, how much long Harrington lasts after this guy is fully on-boarded.

Harrington with a nice journalistic feature on “Team Mittelstadt” today.

The Athletic has really forced him to pull up his entitled socks.

Mike has always written nice journalistic features. Except when he doesn't, which doesn't change the fact that he has. Always.

Info on this? I don't even think TBN and PSE have a bad relationship to begin with.

The rocky relationship was detailed somewhat in the BNews Going Downhill thread and chronicled throughout the years on this site.  That's all you need to synthesize the situation.

My take (which I've given before on other hirings) is that he's the sort of talent TBN will be looking to hire going forward -- young, cheap, multimedia-friendly, apt to move on in a few years.

That's the state of the media in general right now, so, yeah.

Agree

He took a decided turn to a more aggressive self-promotion as well as creating more articles on his Twitter about the same time The Athletic was poaching talent

It's survival for TBN at this point the way local papers are going

My fault with virtually all Buffalo sports journalists, they too often "mail it in" and don't put forward the effort to do pieces like Harrington did on Mitts and his family -- or investigative pieces that Tim Graham has done in past --- in today's world of social media, we don't need a regurgitation of stats, scores or quotes as much as we need insight and informed opinions

That very last bit in Harrington's Twitter bio hints at so much that is problematic about him.

Hey, Mike: It is not about you. It isn't. Ever.

All of his Twitter bio is problematic. "Look at me, I vote for the BBHOF, I'm special." "Oh hey, did I mention that I'm IN the BBHOF, again, I'm super important."

What a tool.
