I find it more than a little sad that this is what the local paper of record chooses to cover.

USA Today covered it.  https://billswire.usatoday.com/2018/08/06/buffalo-bills-doug-whaley-house-buffalo-sabres-jack-eichel/

Also, the News covers all high-profile home sales.

No pics? Just under a million for a townhouse...eh

Just take a walk down the waterfront.  They all look alike.

Lord, that's damning with faint praise. I suspect that all traditional newspapers are desperate for cheap, clickworthy content.

I'm not saying there's not a market for the stories -- it's just sorta sad to me that that's where they're devoting resources.

Losman and Miller lived in older Buffalo homes, no? Have there been others? At least Jack is living in the city, which seems rare for professional athletes in Buffalo.

Miller lived in a townhouse on Bidwell, but I don't believe it was "older."  I don't recall where Losman lived, but yes, it was in the city.

Many hockey players have lived in the area where Jack just bought.  Derek Roy for sure.

Miller's house was/is an absolute beaut. I also recall when he lived in some apartments on West Ferry -- they're set back a ways from the street. Between Delaware and Elmwood. That was back when he was trying to rock an anonymous MySpace account and talk about grocery shopping.

Losman lived on Oakland for a while, I think. I think the noise of his drums (???) prompted a move to one of the early luxury condo renovation projects downtown.

70 Oakland Place, but don't quote me on that. Doing it from memory.

Mittelstadt, of course, will have to live exactly in the center of Buffalo.

There was a tweet in an obscure Minnesota blogger that included a drone view of his new place of residence... let me dig it up...

Here it is..

After reading what either paper wrote, I'm not so sure we can consider that to be "devoting resources".  The articles are about as long as this post.

TBN piece was an 800-word story that, in the physical paper, was published above the fold on the front page of the Local section with a cropped photo of Eichel and Whaley.

Would that be the more generic story that talks about a few of these types of sales over the years?  I didn't see that until now, just the quick summary piece that was pretty much cut and paste out of their bios.  But anyway, it was kind of interesting to read through.  I can't imagine that the real estate and development reporter is all that used to getting all that many eyes on his stuff.

Not sure. The reporter is a general business beat reporter - he reports on a wide variety of stuff.

Honestly, I should just withdraw the original observation. "Newspapers" are under such duress that whatever they're doing, within reason, to drive clicks is probably okay.

Who's place is that?

I looked it up on Realtor.com.  I simply can't imagine living in a place that big.  Who needs that?

It used to belong to Losman.

Holy cow the entire thing is a giant puff piece for local real estate agent Maureen Flavin.
