Greece and Turkey together, eh?

Awesome!!

Which ever country you go to first don't tell the other one that you were there when you get there.  Capeesh?

Bring me back a whole bunch of Turkish coffee, will you?  Don't tell the Greeks, though.  They will tell you they invented it.  They call it Greek coffee.  It is pretty much the exact same thing.

Can confirm that all the "country" coffee over there is the same thing. Delicious.

From my experience, if you land in Istanbul you will not want to leave.  We almost didn't.  It is a fascinating place and literally where East meets West.  You can be standing in Europe and walk acrost a bridge to Asia.

I have a few days in Athens, Santorini and Istanbul, a day trip to Troy and then a flight to Cappadocia for 1.5 days. I've heard amazing things, I can't wait to eat the cuisine also. If I get some good pics I'll post in the awesome thread ?

Last time I went to Europe, the Sabres went on a 10 game streak....

Where is this supermarket that you are lost in?

6 more weeks is still February, which is still winter for most of us.

As soon as March hits it's spring for me. Well, at least in my mind; at this point I've fooled myself into March ->St.Patrick's Day -> green - > warm weather

Plus my birthday, daylight savings time, March madness, actual spring, baseball...March is the real beginning of the year

It actually was until that crazy Roman Emperor (I forget which one) added a few months in there.  I think it was Augusto, who added August and July for his uncle Julius.  Something like that anyway.

That time of the year where the weeks seems to last for months. Only 6 more of these and we're home free though

At least next month is short.

So I had a really weird encounter yesterday at the gym.  This guy was walking around the locker room wearing a jacket and no pants, talking to himself.  He just kept wondering around the whole room, basically walking laps.  He then walked out of the room... still not wearing pants.  I have no idea where it went from there.

I told you so.  You must have time on your hands to actually seek out documentation and proof.  You should just listen to your NS.  Even if I am wrong, which is most of the time, it will still sound good, well at least some of the time.

I have mentioned a few times my wife's health challenges.

She has a very difficult life and we are coming to the conclusion, based on our own research and experiences, that this is what she has ...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mast_cell_activation_syndrome

It is extremely hard to get a diagnosis as most health care professionals know very little about it.  There are no specialists in Canada, as far as I know, for sure none in Halifax.  My wife's pain specialist has heard of it, but knows nothing of it and is retiring soon.

Below is a 60 Minutes Australia (which is very good) segment on a young woman with a very severe case.  My wife is not this bad, but at times is very close to this ...

The couple in the video above are amazing.  He is a very good man and really lives his wedding vows every single day.

Have any of our health care professionals here ever heard of this condition?

Can hearts throw up?

I just felt mine pause, have a seize, and then one just massive pump and my whole body tingled. It was like my heart...threw up

Yeah, that sounds like something you shouldn't ignore or take lightly.

So Monday afternoon I received a call from my boss..

I was informed that Tuesday they were cutting positions across the company and that my job was going to be eliminated.

He then informed me that they reached out to another group and got me a job there (similar to what I do now).  It's a pure lateral move.

I was then asked, do I want it?  Naturally, I said, do I get the separation package if I say no?  The answer was no, because I was no longer being eliminated, just re-assigned.

My (now-former) boss is a good guy, so I basically said, "That kind of decides itself right?"  We laughed.

The new job has some promise... but man... to be 1 day away from losing your job and finding out about it.  At the same time, knowing that you are a strong enough employee that they wanted to find me another spot...

Strange week...

I did a post holiday fridge clean out last night.

There were three interesting/disturbing finds.

1) A crusty looking jar of creamed herring fillets.??

2) Nine partial jars of bbq sauce.?

3) In the freezer, a ziplock bag containing a bird’s feather.?

Eventual explanations:

1) My MIL brought the creamed herring over, took one scoop, and left it in the fridge like either one of us would touch it with a ten foot fork. It survived this long because we both thought it was the others and never read the label...

2) Made a pulled pork for holiday dinner and apparently everyone brought their own sauce.  Must have left them in my fridge for a holiday gift? BTW, I don’t touch bbq sauce.

3) I asked Mrs. iT about the feather.

“Oh I forgot I had that in there”

Uhmmm. Why? ?

She is so bizarre.

Can someone explain to me how I'm supposed to use traction control? Because my car either just doesn't move at all or tries to torque steer me into a ditch. It's completely useless and frankly dangerous.

Just leave it off and trust yourself.  I hate it.

I turned it off today and saw the light. Turns out some of my friends are in agreement.

Yeah in the snow the traction control sometimes does the opposite. The system tries to correct when it senses slipping/loss of traction, but in the snow you need predictability most of all, and randomly stopping wheel spin can be dangerous when you're trying to get through snowy conditions
