Donated platelets at Red Cross, two hours with needles in both arms. But they have TVs with streaming services, so finally watched Black Widow. Set at the time of post-Civil War. Better than I thought I'd be, but felt a bit rushed. More like a James Bond movie. The Taskmaster identity was a surprise. I think her sister eventually will be the next Black Widow.

Thank you for your generous donation.

Just re-watched The Crow.  Surprisingly aged well imo.   Still love it.

One of the best movies of all time still.

Anyone see the new Dune?  Was thinking of taking the kids to see it but they're 9 and 6.  Not sure how appropriate it is.

Watched The Devil's Backbone.  Pretty good but not as scary as I thought it would be.

I want to watch too.  Can your 6 and 9 year old sit through a 2hr 35min movie?

Not sure a 6 and 9 year old would like the movie. It is also fairly violent per the mpaa rating.

Having read the books I thought it was really good. I also think it is a movie that people should see in theaters and in particular imax if you have the chance. The visuals are amazing

Would any movie (not rated G) really be good for a 6 year old?

well come to think about it, I did see Star Wars a new hope in the theaters when I was in 1st grade … 🤔

I saw the original Dune as a teenager and I couldn’t have been more uninterested.  I’m assuming they made this version a little less slow.  It was soooooo boring.

the david lynch version i assume? it is a polarizing movie, it is one of thous love it or hate it types. Denis Villeneuve movie is only covering half of the book which is also about half the Lynch movie. so to answer your question.... yes and no. it is an 2 hours 35 minute movie. But much of that extra time is given to letting scenes and characters breath instead of trying to cram 3 hours of story into a 2 hour movie.

Side note if you enjoy Dune and want to see a better version compared to what Lynch did try and find the Dune miniseries from the scifi channel that was done back in 2000

Depends on what you let your kids see. There are a few creepy scenes where the antagonist is shown nude from the side or behind which I think are a little too much for kids just based on the creep factor. In regards to the violence, this isn't like marvel superhero violence where the "bad guys" get punched, fly 30 feet through the air and land bloodlessly "knocked out." Blood flies around and there are a few instances of minor gore.

The boil-covered baron in his birthday suit is probably a little too much for me as well!

Anyone seen The Green Knight? Second favourite movie of the year so far, for me.

Also, Jodie Comer's performance in The Last Duel is exceptional.

A ranking of the films I've seen at the theatre, this year so far:

No Time to Die > The Green Knight > Black Widow = Jungle Cruise = The Last Duel > Cop Shop > Shang-Chi = Venom 2 > The Suicide Squad > The Protege > Candyman > Fast 9 = Free Guy

Going to see the latest Bond film tomorrow. Glad to see you liked it. I’ve watched over a dozen of the old ones the last few weeks to get me in the mood.

For me it’s alongside Skyfall and Casino Royale within the Craig lineage. All 3 of those movies truly slap.
