muppy Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 I don't get to many rock shows but this was just announced and I cannot wait! Quicksand at the Belly Up Tavern in Solsna Beach August 12th. The last time I saw them was this same venue but it was years ago They are great live and it will be raucus. Walter Schreifels dad lives in San Diego and hopefully we get to see him again too Quote
RangerDave Posted May 28 Report Posted May 28 I am so torn. Roger Daltry is playing at Artpark on the same night as the Bills home opener in their new stadium! Which to choose?? First-ever home game in new stadium or possibly last-ever chance to see Daltry live? Maybe I can get Artpark to show the Bills game on the screen behind the band?? 🤔 Quote

Massive mosh pit. Two generations of heavy shoegaze fans sold out the Paramount in Brooklyn. I’m still on cloud nine from that show. I wanted to see this so much but was traveling for work. I saw them at showplace on the downward is heavenward tour. Still one of my favs 1 Quote
Slack_in_MA Posted May 30 Report Posted May 30 I’d love to see Tedeschi-Trucks but they’re just outside my driving range, and I think it’s a big $ ticket. Quote
7+6=13 Posted May 30 Report Posted May 30 Just saw Santana at Red Rocks Wednesday. If you haven't been to the venue just outside of Denver Colorado, put it on your bucket list. What an experience. 1 Quote

As said, they're 1 of 3 bands I'd had opportunites in the past to see that I truly regret not having seen back in the day. So had to see them on this tour. Even if Mike only plays 2 songs, am really hoping he shows up even though am not expecting it. Btw, when the heck did Rik turn into Roger Waters? 😉 I hope it was everything you hoped for, because that was one fantastic show. Rik didn’t lie when he said that it was safe to say that the rock ‘n’ roll machine is once again fully reloaded. By far the best of the three shows I’ve attended. I’m happy that you got to see them give the best they could give. It was a tremendous epilogue for me of 20+ shows over 43 years of seeing some incarnation of the band. 1 Quote

Thought April Wine did a great show. And amazed how much Brian Greenway looked like Mike Meyers playing his own dad in "So I Married an Axe Murderer." But he still can play. Triumph absolutely blew them away (not surprisingly). Rik and Gil were getting around much better than one would expect guys in their 70's to be doing. The guitar solo on R&RM was amazing (and so much prefer Rik's solos to Gil's, was very pleased they went that direction for that one). The 3 backing members all fit in very well with the sound. Had already resigned myself to the fact Mike wouldn't be there, so wasn't overly disappointed in that. And the bass player filled in admirably on bass and the 2nd drummer was suprisingly good on keyboards. Missed Gil's and Mike's kids talking before the show off in a line well away from the stage. Mildly surprised they ended the regular set with Magic Power. Thought that would be 1 of the 2 songs for the encore. When they ended with that figured I Live for the Weekend would be the encore along with Fight the Good Fight. (Was 1/2 right. 😉 ) Surprised they didn't play anything off Progressions of Power, which is why was expecting ILftW would end up in the encore. Pretty sure that was the only album through The Sport of Kings that didn't get any songs played. (Maybe Rik snuck a little of Fingertalkin' into a solo, but if he did, didn't catch it.) Absolutely that was one of the best shows I'd been to. We even ended up with one of Phil X's guitar picks. (2 shows in a row my son's gotten one. He got one at Queensryche too. Guess I need to bring him to shows more often.) Glad you and your wife got to be there too. Fantastic night and great music. And Rik and Gil (and the rest of the "6 piece" that showed up) were clearly having a blast. Well worth the small fortune we spent. 1 Quote

All the other shows I’ve seen I live for the weekend was the first encore. I don’t know why they didn’t play it last night. I don’t think they were pressed for time. Rik sent one pic past my right ear that got picked up two rows behind me when I hit the guy in the chest and I missed it with my hand. Then right after another one went 3 feet to my left and a guy picked it up two chairs away from me in the row in front of me. Neither one would sell one to me. Lol I would say both were about 3 feet from my hand at one point. I’m glad this show occurred when it did. I can tell you right now that was the band at their best for what they could do in 2026. I can now see them adding some West Coast dates, now that things have gone so well and they’re playing so well together. 2 Quote
