Sorry kev, but I may be missing the joke  Did Steven play the drums for Aerosmith?

Yep. He was their drummer/lead singer at the beginning. He hated being behind the kit. He demanded that they find someone who could actually play, so that he could get out in front or they'd never make it big.

He was probably right. He can still play though.

I'm an AIC fan from way back but I just found this tonight while enjoying a mid-May snowstorm in the hot tub.

Mad Season was put together by Pearl Jam's Mike McCready. He was a good friend of Layne and hoped that if they could get him into a group of sober musicians they could save his life. Layne is so shockingly thin in this video. Layne Staley had a voice that lulled you like a Siren. He died alone on a couch with a platter of cocaine and heroin on the coffee table. His mother had the landlord open the door after there hadn't been the regular weekly withdrawal from his bank account for two weeks. Mental illness is a bitch.

Anyways, this is MF awesome.

I'm gonna keep these oldies going.  Three Dog Night may have the best harmonies outside of Crosby, Stills and Nash.  And I think the lead singer is from the WNY area.  I was lucky to see them at Shea's.  No pitch correctors or safety nets in the 70's.  Great show.

Fortunate to see B.B. live at the Stardust Casino in Vegas (before it was demolished.)  Talk about a stage presence.  As they say in hockey, "He left everything on the ice."

Every time I watch this, the Thrill ISN'T Gone.

This album was a huge, HUGE influence on me.

At 2:40 when she sings

In the sticky middle of the night
Summer serenade
Of taxi horns and fun arcades

Good lord. I was so into the rest of the band at that time I never realized just how amazing of a singer she was.

Just to keep the board jumpin'.  Here is my list of the top 5 bassists in classic rock that were also lead singers (in alphabetical order).  Have at it!

Peter Cetera (Chicago)
Geddy Lee (Rush)
Sir James Paul McCartney (Duh???)
Benjamin Orr (The Cars)
Sting (The Police)

Forgot to add Fred Turner of BTO as an honorable mention (to the others posted above).

King's X, baby!

And while I don't love The Beach Boys, they definitely have more than their fair share of toe tappers. A hit is a hit.
