Complaint Thursdays

Sirius Radio has awful customer support.  When it comes time for renewal, I almost always have to cancel, and then wait for an offer in the mail, or email.  It was very simple, give me the promotion on the website...$5 a month plus tax for 1 year.  Jerked me around until I got tired and said CANCEL.

Outsourcing overseas at its worst.

On a related note, I wanted to drop down to the most basic car+streaming package.  I have given up on Howard Stern, and his 3 day a week terrible shows from home.  Not sure why they continue to give him massive contracts.  He is a shadow of his former self...and the at home broadcasts have only made it worse.  He is truly mailing it in at this point in his career.

Blew out a tire in the middle of nowhere on my commute home.  Jack is all jacked up.  Like seized.  You’re kidding, right?

So here I am on the side of the road in southern nowhere, NY waiting for a tow truck to show up and change a tire.

Dont want to know what this will end up costing me.

I've got a simple one that has been driving me crazy for as long as I can remember, and it came to my mind this morning.

People who get done smoking and throw the butts on the ground. Actually, not usually just throwing them on the ground, but they like to flick them across the parking lot as far as they can.

I don't (and most other people I see don't) throw candy wrappers out the window of the car, or any other garbage on the ground outside.  Very little other stuff just gets thrown on the ground so recklessly and with so little thought....so why is it acceptable to just throw the leftover cigarette (and filter) on the ground where-ever you are done with it?

Is he mailing it in or has the world evolved around him to the degree that he seems boring, sedate, and not at all controversial anymore?

I don't listen often, I'm just asking. It also seemed to me that a big part of his thing was the constant dance with the FCC which is obviously not a thing on satellite.

My complaint of the day is my school district is completely and utterly unable to coordinate and run decent professional development. It's ridiculous.

He is trying to turn himself into the next great interviewer.  This combined with his working from home, and his number of "live hours" per week continuing to be reduced, has turned off this long time fan.

My cousin Brendan died Monday night in St Paul Mn, a single car wreck... lost control... incredible graphic artist, brilliant if not chaotic mind.  RIP I will always miss his laugh, hand gestures and caustic sense of humor especially when telling stories. 😢

Oof. Sorry to hear about that.

So, Mrs CC hasn't liked Virginia one bit since we moved up here a few years ago. One day, we started talking about future housing options and such. Out of the blue, Alabama came up in conversation. I was like, We've lived there before, so why not go back for good? Next thing we know, some things started to fall into place. Sounds great, right? Well, we have to wait a few months. We're tied down to a lease that we can't break for a few more months. Plus, I got into a row with a friend from there over politics - which clearly has me thinking what NOT to bring up in casual conversation anywhere down there when we move back (on top of keeping my mouth shut over the final outcome of the Civil War like I had done before). I don't want her and I talking on the same page, only for some total stranger to eavesdrop and cause a huge scene.

Had a cortisone shot today and got my MRI results back on my shoulder. I’ve got tears in my labrum and rotator cuff, fluid build-up, some degenerative muscle issue and two other things that the doctor said way too fast. Hoping the VA can finally get me in with a specialist soon. I look it as good news. It’s been almost ten years of wondering what’s wrong with it and for people to stop dragging their feet. Glad it’s not all in head.

If anyone plans to travel in this area anytime in the foreseeable future, plan to make some adjustments. This is really bad, especially since Memphis is a freight hub, and I-40 is also a major freight artery.

We've been pre-emptively treating a huge ash tree in our front yard for Emerald Ash Borers for about 15 years to try to stave off an infestation.  For those that don't know, Google it up.  Invasive species that is wiping out ash trees across the US.  It is assumed that no ash tree will survive ultimately.

Anyway, this tree is about 4' across and 75-80' tall.  It shades the entire front of our house, including our big, comfortable porch.  I've been spending about $200/yr on chemicals to fight these little bastards off so we can keep our beautiful shade tree.  Well, it looks like the end just might be at hand.  Last year a big branch never leafed out, and we had a couple of shoots sprout from the main trunk, which is a sure sign of infestation.  We gave a second treatment last Summer and I doubled the dose this Spring.  But it looks like it is all for naught.  Right now maybe 30% of the tree is leafed out.  And it doesn't look like there is much more for leaf buds.  I think we finally lost the battle.

I'm gonna give it another week or two but I think I think I'm calling a tree service soon.  I has a sad.  It is the last ash tree that I am aware of in the neighborhood.  Hell.maybe the county.  We lost a ton of them 10 years ago.

If only those critters had been caught and then released in a petrified forest...

Seriously though. $1400 to rent a place, more than a mortgage where I live but the housing market is so ***** I can't get out of renting. Can't wait to miss out on a house and watch my rent hit $1500 next year.

Yup. Either the flats in my area are way too high or I make way too much money to rent in other areas that would appear to be rather decent. ATST, a fairly decent house around here starts at around 250K. And, to add insult to injury, many of the blocks of flats in Harrisonburg are solely dedicated to student housing for JMU. But that's ok. If everything goes according to plan, we'll be leaving Virginia for good before the end of the year.
