  1. So I'm curious Sabre Space, what's the worst injury you've sustained playing sports? Not necessarily just in hockey, but in any athletic endeavor? Mine would be breaking my ribs playing travel hockey (either Bantam or Midget level). Pile up in front of the net and I came down on someone's knee like an upside-down "back breaker" and broke one rib, cracked two others and bruised a bunch of stuff. Worse part was I thought I had just got the wind knocked out of me so I played another shift, got checked by a shorter guy (I'm 6'3") right in the midsection and blacked out due the pain. My dad was a coach at the time and everyone told me he was over the boards and on the ice before the ref even blew the whistle (legal hit so play continued for a bit). Let me tell you breaking ribs is horrible, you use muscles that agrevaite ribs injuries for everything. Breathing? Hurt. Coughing? Hurt. Laughing? Hurt. Getting up from a chair? Hurt. Going to the bathroom? Hurt. No comfortable position to sit (especially in the chair desk combo things that schools have). Also had to sleep in a Laz-z-boy for the first couple of nights cause I sleep on my side and that hurt, so I was in pain and sleep deprived. I don't recommend it.
  2. So it's been quite some time since I was last in NYC(we're talking pre-9/11) so I figured I would solicit some recommendations. Some friends and I are heading down this weekend for three days for one last trip before we all go our separate ways across the country with new found responsibilities. We're staying in Midtown a few blocks away from Rockefeller Center. None of us are exactly high rollers, so we want some good drinking and food without breaking the bank, but don't want to be relegated to dive bars either. I'd prefer to keep things in the general area, but would be willing to travel a bit if it's worth it. Any and all recommendations are appreciated.
  3. Mr. Pegula makes a lot of money drilling for natural gas; however, his world and the lives of everyone on this planet may change forever very soon. Inventor Andrea Rossi has made cold fussion a 21st century reality since his E-Cat unit has been independently tested. Mr. Rossi's invention is said to produce a significant amount of clean heat energy. This invention will significantly reduce the need for fossel fuel; however, as dynamic as this may sound, this invention will truely upset the balance of power, and I am not sure that those who retain that power will be willing to give it up. Have fun with this one. http://www.forbes.co...ange-after-all/ http://www.pureenerg...fered-for-free/
  4. http://news.blogs.cn...hool/?hpt=hp_t1 20+ dead, including 10 children. I can't even think straight, I'm so sad. I literally cannot work.
  5. Overrated zombie soap drama has a thread and the greatest show on television does not? My favorite part of the first episode (of the third season) was when Tyrion spoke to his father. The look on his face as he left the room gave me chills. I also still can't believe one of Daenerys's dragons is named Drogon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnEBatKmLpM
  6. Learning to play hockey has been on my bucket list for awhile. You have to start somewhere — I had the first of seven skating lessons the other night. I move about as well as Dave Andreychuk on meth, but at this point, whatever. I'm on my way. I skated in rental skates, and I don't want to do that again. Lord. So I need some down and dirty advice on buying skates, where to go, what to look for, how much to expect to spend and so on. I'm reasonably close to Buffalo.
  7. The stuff in the Kane thread about creating a fake user name so that you can leak out private details got me thinking this could make an interesting mindless thread. What are some potential blatantly obvious aliases posters could use? The original idea for me was "not shrader". Now I want to hear some options for any posters out there. A few random ideas: somebody l1ghtsabre inkwoman
  8. What is the best Dropbox alternative out there? My promo is ending and I'd like to have something that automatically uploads all my cell phone photos and then downloads them to any linked computers....... like Dropbox does. But, I do also like the share feature where I can create a link for any photo, video or album to share with anybody. Most don't have that feature. I like Amazon photos since I have Prime, and it's included with Prime. But I can't share with that. Dropbox wants $80 for a year but I have no need for 1TB of space. Any ideas?
  9. Seemed like we had a fair amount of discussion about Stand up comedy. Seems like a good thing to have a separate topic for. Everyone can use a good laugh now a days. Craig Ferguson has a few specials between Netflix and Hulu iliza shlesinger is funny jim jefferies is pretty good if you like crude and rude
  10. We're a few days away from the Summer Olympics. With the Vesey Watch stretching on, with Presidential Primaries over and the long road to the general election just starting, with Kane's court date re-heating the trade thread, and with it being AUGUST IN TAMPA, I thought I'd create a place for fun diversion. Because I'm a flaming capitalist, I'll link a medal prediction article, with some charts, prepared by none other than Goldman Sachs! No kidding, it's real and it's interesting. My must sees are woman's volleyball, women's gymnastics, men's basketball, men's track and field, and all swimming. There is no rhyme or reason in those choices. It probably has a lot to do with being raised in the USA. That would be a rhyme or reason, I guess. I digress. Hop aboard. I'd love to hear stories from your youths if you participated in any of these sports. http://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-2016-olympics-medal-predictions-2016-8
  11. So ISIS is escalating this fast, thinking we need to arm a anti-terror muslim army in middle east and or now use full force against ISIS now and start putting pressure on US muslims to act and denounce these acts and advocate peaceful coexistence strongly or be destroyed. These folks need to be evicerated. https://www.google.com/amp/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/36892785?client=safari# https://www.google.com/amp/mobile.nytimes.com/2016/07/27/world/europe/normandy-france-church-attack.amp.html?client=safari#
