  1. I really expected a trade after the bruins game. Who cares that they are trading From a point of weakness. This team needs to move Tim and staff, for sure and replace them with grit. I'd rather watch good honest effort than giveaways and Fraidy cats
  2. We stink. Plain and simple. I'm sorry I bought center ice to witness the atrocity better known as the buffalo sabres. The only ones I'm more sorry for, are all you poor bastards who spent much more money than me buying Season tickets. The cameras from MSG panned the crowd at 1st Intermission of bruins game....looked like a funeral there.
  3. I guess it all depends what kind of person you are. When the Sabres do well, I don't say much on this board. When they suck, I like to point out what I think they could do differently. Isn't that human nature? I guess some folks see the world through rose colored glasses. It's not all doom and gloom. We're not negative creeps (K.Cobain). We're just trying to offer up solutions. I left for work right when Kalinin did his bone-head move behind the net. Terrible. I laughed when I saw the comments about cutting him before he hit the dressing room. That really was an awful decision he made to hold the puck and not rip it off the boards.
  4. Briere gets hit in the face with a stick. No call. A Boston guy holds up someone on the boards in the Bruins end, even the Bruin announcer says he expects a penalty. No call. Axelsson runs into Biron, he goes down. Call against Axelsson, oh but wait, diving by Biron. During the 4 on 4, Kotalik whacks some Bruin d-man across the arm two times, easily slashing, especially by the 'new' rules whereby you cannot lay your stick on an opponent. No call. What a bunch of garbage. New NHL? That freakin' diving penalty has got to go. I don't like diving, I hate it. But it's one or the other. If the ref deems a guy to have dived while no penalty was deserved, have the balls to call a 2 minute minor for that. If a guy embellishes what was already a penalty, call the penalty, but don't call a dive. The guy wouldn't have to embellish if the refs consistently called the game. But when a player is gaining an advantage on the play, and the other player is the victim, he has to make sure the ref sees the infraction or knows one was committed. For example, Derek Roy gets held up 5 straight times, with no call. Finally, he tumbles to the ice to make sure the call is made. I submit that he has to do that. Suppose on the previous 5 occasions, the advantage gained by the opponent resulted in goals? Derek Roy gets chewed out by the coach, maybe gets benched, maybe gets sent to the minors, maybe loses his job. And why? Because the slacker refs won't call it by the book. Back to the diving penalty. I say if the ref feels a player embellished a penalty, the team should still get the PP, but that player receives a misconduct. He sits for 2 or 5, maybe a first infraction is 2, a second is 5. If he's a repeat offender, suspensions come into play, like they currently do. The way it is now, it's a cheap cop-out by the ref. Suppose Marty didn't go down there, but Axelsson tips it in for a goal? Marty can't trust the ref to make the call, he has to make sure the ref notices, otherwise Marty's stats are hurt and the team. It should be 2 for Axelsson and 2 or 5 misconduct for Marty with someone else sitting in the box. Does this make sense to anyone?
  5. Wow. Reading that Canucks board, you wonder if any of those guys have ever seen the Sabres play. One guy figures since they shut down Ottawa's #1 line, that it should be easy to beat Buff. Umm, pal, Buffalo's success is due to the multiple scoring lines they have. Apparently Van has been playing good defense (Luongo), so they will win. Well Sabres, I hope some of you read those comments, especially the ones about how Ottawa is much better than Buffalo. The Sabres are way over-due for an offensive explosion, and that Canuck team has got to be tired after last night. BTW, yippee, I'm on the first page! I'm on the first page! Fame and fortune are mine!!
  6. If this is the worst slump the Sabres get in, then they're doing just fine. They are still winning even though the last 10 games or so they have been badly outplayed a lot of the time. What happened? Are the other teams figuring out how to stop them, or are the Sabres unable to raise their game mentally each night. Ryan Miller is becoming the big story. He comes to play every night. He's stealing games right now. If the Sabres play like they have been recently, Sens win 4-1 with empty-netter. Here's hoping they start to get it together again. It would be nice to see a take-charge effort and a 7-1 game for Buffalo. Do we need Scott Arniel back?
  7. Sabres should replace the slug on their shirt with a bulls-eye. Every team they play sees that already. NJ is up and coming. You know all they've heard is , "Let's see what they can do against the #1 team in the conference". I will be very surprised if NJ doesn't come out playing the way the Panthers did. The Sabres are a good team, maybe even great. I have no concerns with their talent at all, anymore. But the big concern now is, mental. Can these guys mentally prepare for challenges? Can they elevate their game? Do they get fired up to meet the challenge of a team looking to prove themselves like NJ tonight? They pulled one out against Montreal, but stunk against Wash and Florida. I'm a cynic used to years of losing when it counts, I enjoy all the wins, they've been an entertaining team over the years, but really lose in the end. I'm sorry, I'm picking NJ to win, 5-3, in a game not as close as that score might suggest. Hope I'm wrong.
  8. oh oh oh oh oh guess the Spurs won tonight. Wish the Sabres had that winning spirit. Spurs win when it counts. Who do you Buffalo guys cheer for anyways? Not the Raptors , I hope. If Tim Duncan came to give a speech to the Sabres on what it takes to win, I'd feel they have a chance. I don't want to be Mr.Negative, so I'll say, Ryan Miller is truly the real deal. man, I was not on his side from day one. BUt he seems to be the real deal.
  9. Oh come now. Harsh words. Let's face it, the Sabres are on their way down. I'm giving up now, then I can concentrate on a good winter, skiing, skating, etc. I think we'll lose to Ottawa in the 2nd round. Ouch. But, that's what it is to be a Sabre fan. Those lovable losers will never get it done. Fire away. Who do we lose to next? Montreal? Ouch again. Huet is unbeatable.
  10. Holy blah blah blah. The Sabres lost!! The Sabres lost!! Big deal. I'm gonna do what I always do when the team I cheer for craps the bed. Move on to the next sport. Luckily, I'm a San Antonio Spurs fan. I have been ever since I heard of basketball. 3 championships. Tim Duncan. Manu. Tony Parker. Love the Sabres......but, I really love the Spurs. How on Earth do you lose to Florida? It's like I said last week, every lowly team plays the Sabres like it's their Stanley Cup. The Sabres have a bullseye on their chest now. There will be no easy games from here on in. Every single game they are not ready to give 150% for, they will lose. But, it's ok. The Spurs won't crap the bed. Let's all cheer for them.
  11. All right, as I mentioned after the game the Sabres just lost to the Sens, this is a chance to see the dismantling of Ottawa. They had a brief reprieve after their win, but a loss to NJ last night has the hockey world staring straight at Ottawa. If Buffalo wins and wins big tonight, something happens. Alfredsson is moved, Murray is fired, players are sent down....something. Here is a chance to 'eliminate' a team before the play-offs even begin. Don't crap the bed again Sabres!!
  12. I'm working at the bar tonight. I have to miss the game. They sometimes play the game I'm interested in on the big screen, but if I'm busy serving drinks, it doesn't matter anyway. The good news is, the Sabres seem to have won more often than not in these games I couldn't watch on Saturday nights, especially when I expected them to lose. I'm afraid I expect them to lose tonight. More good news, I have a bounty of alcohol at my fingertips to ease the pain, or perhaps, just maybe....celebrate. Ryan Miller, I've been so-so on this guy from day one. Tonights the night.
  13. I'm checking out. Going to work early, I can't bear to watch the 3rd period. Philly is the better team. Let me clarify, they are the better team at following the coaches instructions and executing the game-plan. Careless turn-overs continue to plague the Sabres. Max has looked better with the skating, but still, these drop passes and short passes right to Flyer sticks around the Flyer blue-line have got to stop. Listen to Pierre McGuire on TSN. He is dead right. The Sabres are playing a match-up game, trying to get Drury against Forsberg. But, the Sabres are not getting the puck in deep when they have the chance to allow for a line-change. Simple execution of the game plan. It's not happening. The Flyers have eliminated a lot of their mistakes, while the Sabres commit more and more. The tide has changed in this series. I can't watch the 3rd. Here's hoping for a good one!!
  14. Rob Blake just scored for the Sabres, and now Andrew Brunette! Awesome!!!! We'll crush the Flyers.....oh ya, those guys play on Colorado. TSN got tired of Pierre McGuire talking about how the Flyers have no answer for the speedy Sabres.
