For a series that’s 2-0, it feels like Florida has been massively outplayed most of the time.

Bob is absolutely dialed it. I just saw some advanced stats for the game and it shouldn’t even be close. Carolina is dominating everything except actually putting the puck in the net.

At least the weak cross checking calls seem like they’re going to be consistent.

Carolina is being way too cute with the puck. They’ve had some grade-a chances off the forecheck. Shoot the puck.

OK, apparently the Devils did have another gear. Can they do it again for 20 minutes? I can’t imagine Carolina is going to turtle for 12 minutes again with blood in the water.

Devils are really lucky this game is 1-1. If this is the best they’ve got, they’re done. Generating very few chances and getting hemmed into their own zone for long stretches. They have to bury this upcoming PP because it feels like the Canes are going to score 4 tonight.

Outside of game 3, I’d say the Devils have been a trainwreck the whole series. And at this point, I’m not sure if the Devils played well in game 3 or if Carolina just laid an absolute egg given how the rest of the series has gone…

Hockey really is a game of inches. NJD look better but I thought Carolina came out the better team again. A crossbar for Necas turns into a NJD goal.

With the exception of the weird 4 goals in 2 minutes part of game 3, the Canes throttled the NYI that entire series. NYI were playing their game, it just wasn’t enough to beat the Canes. The Devils look overwhelmed and dead on arrival.

Rangers are slow and play passive.

Not only that, all 4 shots were in the first period.

Canes are such a weird team. I mean, they’re excellent at roster building obviously but every year they seem to overhaul their backend, dumping core pieces in the process, and just plug and play guys off the scrap heap with little to no decline in performance. I wonder what their play for a Deangelo replacement is. Would they take a run at Klingberg? They’re a cap team so money isn’t the issue- but they follow their internal analytic evaluations on players to a T when signing and paying guys.

Do they really, though? Not every team is going gift them stupid penalty after stupid penalty and prove incapable of winning on the road while playing their second and third string goaltenders. and Carolina still outplayed them the majority of the series 5v5. Shesterkin is great, though. I would expect Tampa to sweep the Rangers.

It’s wild to me that Carolina went 25-12-4 on the road during the regular season but look like they’ve never won a road game before during these playoffs.

I’m not sure it’s in Carolina’s best interest to sit back and try to protect a 1 goal lead. It’s not their game.

And Carolina has a goal and a crossbar (on different kills) to show for the Rangers PP. I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to work.

Rangers really needed that one. Carolina didn’t look good most of the game. I don’t know if they’ll play that badly again. F the Rangers, though.

Canes look a lot better since they made line changes to start the third.

Well, there is a name being floated around town for purchasing the Sabres. Joe Tsai. I’m skeptical but word doesn’t sound great about the Pegula’s long term commitment to Buffalo (The city in general).

It’s kind of gross but their team is everything I hope the Sabres become. They play the right way, have an absolute ton of skilled heart and soul type guys, and I love Aho. I’m too old and have too much going on in my life to care about gatekeeping Sabres fandom. Carolina is fun to watch. I like watching fun hockey.

These coaches. I like the call to go for 2 from Vrabel there but I absolutely hate the playcall. Don’t bring in the jumbo package. Spread out the Cincy D, they have the receivers to make it believable, and then run Henry with a box that doesn’t have EVERYONE in it.

These announcers are killing me acting like it’s some historically cold day out. It’s a normal January day in Buffalo. Actually, it’s pretty nice out all things considered.
