The larger high schools, yes, but they have a lot of students.... duh.

Most of their high schools are large.  They form their ISDs deliberately to make bigger high schools.

We had two huge high schools and didn’t live in a big city..

Nice exaggeration there.  The biggest capacity of any HS stadium in the whole state is less than 20k.

True.  But having lived in Texas, nearly every high school has a huge football stadium.

Our two area high schools had stadiums of 11.5k and 9k.  By northeastern standards, those are huge and could be non-D1 college stadiums.

  3. I think it’s going to be Vegas.  I think GMKM and his team are trying to figure out how to make LTIR work in the same way it worked for Tampa.

Eichel doesn’t fit under a cap without LTIR, and I assume Tuch and Eichel will both need LTIR time.  That will also potentially give Vegas some accrued cap space.  Even if Vegas doesn’t dump a contract, they’re under the original cap with Eichel and Tuch on LTIR.  So there’s some daily cap space money to accrue.

I think the hold up is trying to make it work on Vegas’ end.  I’d bet GMKM is trying to make this work without giving up anyone on the roster.

Soo if San jose terminates EK9 contract, they have a lot of room for Eichel.

    Eklund + 2022 1st + 20231st + Meier + Merkley ?

If San Jose goes in on Eichel, it’d need to be futures almost exclusively.

The Sharks have too many big contracts to give up current roster players.  Getting Eichel would be all about making their last big playoff push.  They’d want all hands on deck.

I could see Eklund, some combination of prospects (Borderleau, Robins, etc) and a couple first round picks.

I think that’s a light package.  I also think SJ would be insane to mortgage their future to bet on three 30-some defenders making a Cup run.

    Vegas has:

    Peyton Krebs, 5'11" 190lb C - 43 points in 24 WHL games and 5 points in 5 AHL games

    Pavel Dorofeyev, 6'1" 178lb LW - 13 points in 24 AHL games

    Brendan Brisson, 6' 185lb C - 21 points in 24 NCAA games

    Zach Dean, 6' 176lb C - 20 points in 23 QMJHL games

    Ivan Morozon, 6'1" 196lb C - 31 points in 55 KHL games

Korczak at RD would bring some edge.  Chayka just got drafted and could be available

I don't know, the number of Swedes we are accumulating on this team is starting to worry me. Not sure if its the ghost of Don Cherry whispering to me but I am getting worried about it. Once playoffs start, a "heavy game style" is usually required to advance. Will this team be able to bring that or survive it? Just a thought.

Yeah, Swedes aren’t tough and gritty

Apparently, some of the crusty old time veterans don't believe that the services should make accommodations for them. I tried to explain to one of those keyboard warriors on a YouTube video why the Kesh is so essential to their religion, but he wouldn't listen.

Yeah, it wasn’t a big deal for us.  They wear different head gear, are allowed facial hair, and eat differently.  Which is really no big deal to accommodate.

They all understand that they can’t serve in combat units if they adhere to religious guidelines.  They’d need to shave.  Chemical/biological protective masks don’t always seal if the wearer doesn’t shave.  And getting them a different kind of food is tough.

Most of them serve in ways that it doesn’t become an issue, like cyber or medical (Stateside medical facilities).

You acted like he's some rookie still

I can guarantee you if dylan cozens had 35 points  in 145 games people wouldn't use the word "patience"

He’s not.  But he’s had a crappy development situation.  Botterill force fed him NHL minutes.  And Krueger brought a lot of players down.

Have to take in the whole situation and context.

Are you implying you would have not protected him? If so who would you swap him with?

With the roster the Sabres have, who was going to be protected instead?  Eakin?

He is getting close to be who he is. After this season he will be. Also you took those stats and interpreted them how you wanted. I simply posted them, and not even in this thread. He has almost 200 pro games and his shot percentage is meh, really meh. I think his billing as a shooter is overrated and I think it is important to ask why has he only managed to get 145 games over 4 years of playing NHL hockey. At some point he has to sink or swim and for me that is this year.

Since he has played 145 games you would think it would start to come together. I think we should give him this season to try but I am skeptical because of his low hockey IQ.

In summary, that’s what I originally said.  The Sabres would be smart to give it a bit longer.

Always love it when someone uses a statistic and then the inevitable ***** that is this happens.

There’s a huge difference between quoting a stat with no context, and using stats to inform decisions and further investigation.

I am a huge advocate for analytics.  But done in a vacuum isn’t smart.  Saying a player is who he is after 145 games, without investigating the circumstances of those games, is silly.

    Dude he's played 145 games

    I guess context doesn’t matter.

41 games with STL as a 20 year old rookie

65 games in his second year, on a crap Buffalo team, where Botterill kept him with the Sabres when it was clear he need to be in Rochester.  Finally and mercifully sent to Rochester, where he looked good and started to develop.

1 game in the NHL his third year.

38 games last season, scored 2 points under Krueger, and generally sucked.  Scored 12 points for Granato and looked better.

Maybe a bit of patience might be in order instead of stat watching.

It's tragic that nine people were murdered in San Jose yesterday. One of the victims was a Sikh. So, why do I mention this? Because, from everything I've read about Sikhs, they are some of the most loyal and disciplined people I've ever read about and met.

    https://abc7news.com/vta-shooting-san-jose-mass-victims-taptejdeep-singh/10701050/

I commanded a basic training battalion , and we had a few Sikh trainees who graduated and became Soldiers.  They were all generally good and kept their nose down and grinder it out, just like everyone else.

    Anecdotal, but my experience.

Except Sanderson's scoring didn't tail off because he was broken up from Cassels, it tailed off because the way goalies played changed.  They were creatures of reaction when he began & few had the reflexes to kick out a leg & a glove before he could rip that shot by them.  They became more anticipatory & the butterfly / hybrid styles came into vogue and he couldn't hit the small gaps they left him nearly as often.

Well, except Sanderson scored 34 goals in 1995-96, 36 goals in 1996-97, 30 goals in 2000-2001, and 34 goals in 2002-03.

Butterfly goalies were plentiful in 95-96 and the style of play became basically the norm mid 1990s onward.

Sanderson scored 46 goals in 1992-93, and 41 goals in 1993-94, for comparison.  Stand up goalies were pretty common those years.

I suspect the dead puck era trapping and clutch and grab had more to do with his goal production drop, of 5-10 goals per season during his best years.

Andrew Cassels was his center for 5 of Sanderson’s 6 big goal production years.  2000-01 was the outlier.

You want to play Skinner with a centre who will let it rip. Contrary to popular believe you don't need to constantly feed him, he goes to the dirty areas (a more valuable skill for this team as currently constructed than another pass first player of the same level, I'd wager) so if there are rebounds to cash, he'll see to it. I believe the year Skinner scored 40 Jack was still among the league leaders in shots on goal.

You can go with a Bonino type at center, and build a Kessel-Bonino-Hagelin line.  Skinner can be the Kessel.  Actually, Bjork on the other wing, and acquire a defensive center who plays a similar game to Bonino, and it’s a decent version.

Getting a center like Wennberg does have advantages.  He plays well without the puck.  And he can get the puck to dangerous areas.

    I’d be up for a Skinner-Wennberg-Bjork line.
