Jake and his wife were residents of Chicago as far back as 2016 and perhaps earlier. It is why they chose the Hawks in the first place. He’s not leaving.

And if he is, he’s not coming to a team like this. He would go to a team like the Avs or Rangers as an over the top acquisition.

—edit to add he has a modified NMC and I can almost guarantee Buffalo is on it.

Did you know, the Sabres have won as many games as the rangers this season so far?

And St Louis coming off 2 rest days, closing out a 7-game homestand. Their season is hanging by a thread despite being in a very congested Central (only 5 points separate teams 3 MIN- 6 STL) but unlike the Sabres, the Blues don't have the games in hand vs. their competitors. The Blues need this game.

Which will make it all the merrier when the Blues can't handle Buffalo's speed and lose 5-3 (after the Sabres enter the third up 4-1).

    Damn near perfect call

If I'm Comrie I'm ***** pissed.  He's been nothing but a good soldier, accepting a "conditioning" assignment to Roch due to KA's roster gymnastics.    Now he's back (presumably 100% healthy) and isn't playing.     He was brought in to compete for the starting spot, secondarily as a bridge between Anderson and UPL/Levi... however, through no fault of his own, that bridge has crumbled.

His GAA/Sv% are nearly identical to UPL, he just hasn't had the same run support.    That's not on him.

He deserves a couple starts here.

Comrie: .883 Save percentage, 3.67 Gaa.
UPL: .899 Save percentage, 3.31 GAA.
Those stats are not “nearly identical, they’re noticeably worse. There’s also the 12-5-1 record for UPL, compared to Comrie’s 4-8. Part of that is due to injuries but it’s hard to not put UPL over him, and Anderson has played the best in the limited games.

I think it is possible to be mildly disappointed by this while also acknowledging that it is not likely a significant long-term setback.

Short term I do think it hurts a little. Looking at things in a vacuum, I would have waived Hinostroza as I think we have multiple forward options in Rochester (Biro, Murray, Rousek…) who could be tried in a bottom 6 role and maybe even deserve an opportunity. Our D depth was not good and is now worse. Others are correct though in stating that similar players hit waivers a few times a year. Still, better in my view to have a guy you know.

Also, it might surprise some to know that Matt Irwin has played 31 games for the Capitals this season. He has played 10 years in the NHL, 47 playoff games (maybe more in 2023), 10 years in the NHL without ever having a contract that paid him more than a million $ a year. Players of his talent level, and Fitzgerald’s, Clague’s, Fedun’s, Ruhwedel’s, etc., have been filling out the bottom depth of NHL playoff teams forever. As our top D and forwards are going to get paid soon, we should get used to seeing such players filling out some of our 5-9 D positions.

I will say a large part of what determines the top contenders from the average playoff team. Take the Avalanche last year for example, they had Toews, Makar, Byram, Girard, Erik Johnson, and Josh Manson for their top 6. If we get a couple more bottom 4 defenders to replace our 6/7s we’d be in good shape.

Know pros have to be in the AHL on trade deadline day to play in the AHL playoffs.  Pretty sure, but not positive, Juniors & NCAAers also need to be on the roster that day to play in the playoffs.

Pretty sure this isn’t true, bloom was signed last season and was playoff eligible for the Amerks after his season ended, he didn’t end up playing though.

Very impressive win.  In my head, may be the most impressive win so far this season.

WTF was Minny’s coach thinking pitting Reaves out with Dahlin on the ice late in the game?  Bet he wants that decision back.

He was reading this thread where someone predicted Reaves would murder Dahlin… wild couldn’t stop Dahlin so he had to try something.
