  4. Good drafting and signing Chara had a little more to do with that, but Thornton was seen as a floater in Beantown, and that is one thing they do not tolerate well.
  5. Like I've said from day one, change the culture or give up hope.
  6. Decided I wasn't going to let the little dictators have their satisfaction. We need to build a team of players who play every night not a bunch of guys who only play when they feel like it or when they want a contract. I am at a loss to explain how so many of you are so easily fooled by Kane playing well this year. HE IS PLAYING FOR A CONTRACT. Minute you sign him long term to big money he'll be back to the old Kane guaranteed. IF he does consider signing here it'd be only for the money, more likely he has zero desire to sign here and will sign where he wants to be - Vancouver. Trade him while he is at top value, it's the only decision possible for future success.
  7. We should just call up that guy who jumped in to avenge the Nylander hit and tell him to punch Eichel in practice until the brat learns to give effort on EVERY play, not just when he wants to.
  8. If you hadn't signed him to the big extension you could trade him easily. There would be a plethora of teams thinking Seguin/Boston. With the contract, MAYBE someone would think that, but I doubt it. Would seem like a huge gamble from their perspective. Better plan would be to surround him with guys who work hard and don't take crap from kids. Teach him by example.
  9. It's more realistically like JBot rolled the dice on a half dozen guys hoping one or two of them would stick. So far the results are not good. Only Pouliot seems to have been a good signing.
  10. Pouliot is playing for a contract. We should be able to move him for a good pick or prospect at the deadline. So that was a smart signing.
  11. Max value right now, this team as is isn't going anywhere, use him as step one in the total new rebuild.
  12. This team couldn't put a horse in the barn even if the door was wide open.
  13. That's all I meant too. Not going to watch all the games. Not going to say as much. Just talk about any actual changes they make, any REAL progress. It's too depressing to pay any real attention to right now.
  14. The f-u was directed at the small elite squad who think their opinions matter more than others. The ones who threaten that they will ignore you with the delusion that that would actually matter to anyone, like oh no if he ignores me I will be so gutted...............NOT the entire board who are mostly normal disgruntled fans. I didn't think that would need explanation. It was just for the judges and the critics.
  15. I guess when a team is this bad for this long you can't expect much better from a group of disgruntled fans. The team is a waste of my time and so is talking about them. Maybe I'll be back if and when JBot does something significant. Other than signing a slacker kid to an 8 million a year extension that is. So congrats old timers, you pushed me out - f-you and this stupid team.
  16. This isn't fun any more. I've been a fan since the 70s. Maybe that's long enough.
  17. According to Bob McKenzie a lot of teams are looking for a top 6 forward right now so the market might be there to negotiate something decent for our future.
  18. Well we will differ on that one. I think puck possession is one of our biggest problems. We shoot it in all too often and rarely does our forecheck warrant that approach. We waste a lot of PP time going back to get the puck from our own end and earlier on also dealing with their short handed attempts on us.
  19. So you're the boss? You get to decide how people should speak or talk? You're free to spout any opinion you want to, but if I do it and you don't like it you get to be all snippy and sarcastic and that's cool right? Cause you've been here longer or you run it or whatever but you've spread your pee around and decided it's your space and people have to play by your rules. Oh my what sacrilege that someone new might come along with different ideas. Some people have said they like my posts, some don't, so what? When it comes to sports talk every a-hole has an opinion and everybody thinks they know more than the other guy. It's universal. Again, so what? I don't attack individuals unless I am attacked first. I came here to talk Sabres. If you don't like me, don't read me. be mature enough to just ignore what you don't like - or be a total , your choice I guess.
  20. And I am so glad you are still an a-hole. I've tried to be nice, go f-yourself. Push me away, ban me whatever, I don't care.
  21. Power plays can't remain static. Everybody studies film, everybody notices tendencies. Just about every PP has a great year and then not as much the year after. Teams learn how to defend them. For long term success you have to keep the tempo fast and you have to vary it depending on who you play. We have a lot of players with very predictable habits and most of all, we do not pass the puck well.
  22. Well I guess you could look at it that way, or you could say Gorges looks better than the dreadful D men around him cause that's just how bad this D is.
  23. Considering all the high picks, we've had more busts than successes. We were supposed to have a full cupboard when lot of these guys were 18 or 19 with bright futures. Guys like Fasching were considered top prospects and have basically amounted to nothing. Perhaps we don't know how to develop players well, but for the most part it has just been poor drafting. The good news (lol) is that most of the prospects Murray traded way haven't amounted to much either :)
  24. I agree that all teams have some issues and different personality types but it's a question of degree and priorities. Work hard play hard is fine, but you have to actually show up and work hard to earn the reward, not just expect the reward as a given right. Compared to most other teams I look at how dreadful the home record is. There was a time when we were a good team at home and now all too often we come out flat and play worse at home than on the road. You can have curfews and such on the road, keep teams close, but at home it's harder to police them so to speak and so the home record shows the results. It's either that, or they just don't care.
