  1. Missed watching this game. howd Rojo look? has anyone else tried to make RoJo happen yet?
  2. Anticipating an offensive explosion for a total of 4 goals this year
  3. Dec 31 2022: I'm driving from Sarasota FL to Chicago IL currently somewhere between Nashville and Louisville. I tune in as the Sabre's roll into Boston to take on a juggernaut Bruins team. I will never forgive them for what Milan Lucic did and want this one bad. The Sabre's blow a third period lead before Cozens ties it up and Tuch puts it away in OT. Electric. First thing out of my mouth - well the second thing after 30-90 seconds of inaudible joyous yelling was "Man I wish RJ called that game" Another flashback: My old man has his feet resting on the coffee table, we're watching the Sabres on the old wooden box TV in my parents first house. I'm laying on my belly beneath the table playing with a plastic jet ski Elmo. Rick is going bananas on the broadcast. There's nothing all that notable about this moment other than how vividly i remember it. I can see it. I can hear it. It's the earliest thing that I remember, and Rick was there. My first sip of beer came soon after this first memory (roughly 4 years old my dad got sick of my insistence that I liked beer too and let me try i sip of his: I ended up sick) RJ was there. Over the years RJ has been such a presence. He grabbed my attention early with the Stuuuuuuuuu Barnes goal calls and I've never looked away. Having never met the man he sure was there for so many milestones and memories. He's gone now -- but not really, we all have those special moments he shared with us. His memory will always bring a smile to my face and countless others. Here's to you RJ, and all that you gave to us, and here's to the team we love giving us many more "I wonder how RJ would've called it" moments P.S. (I've added a bunch of U's to my name on here in your honor, your calls are the reason I was such a fan of #41 it only seems right that I read his name in your voice from here on out)
  4. If I’m KA I wait. Some team on the cusp will think they’re a power play boost away from making a run and pay more later
  5. Would have loved him in buf but this is too long Would have loved him in buf but this is WAYYYYY too long
  6. Versatility is good - especially when it comes to role players. He seemed to create more chances than his production would suggest. I’m fine with bringing back a known commodity here
  7. I like it. Plays bigger than his size, comes from a winning culture and has something to prove
  8. Who knows if any of the kids will be any good but i appreciate that size and defense seemed to be areas of focus
  9. if this discussion was the NFL playoff picture graphic Skinner would be the team on the bottom of the "outside looking in" column. Mathematically, it is possible that he gets in, but everything needs to go perfectly from here on out.
  10. Tage came into his first practice and dangled Berglund out of his jock. The undressings became a daily routine until Berglund's agent called to inform him of the trade. Initially excited to escape his tormentor, Patty Berg was dismayed to board the flight to Buffalo to see none other than TNT sipping on an apple juice in row two. In a moment you will know the rest of the story..... Upon arrival PB's nightmares only grew worse, closing his eyes only to relive puck after puck sneaking between his skates by the stick of the manchild. He begged, he cried, he duct taped his jock to his waist but he could not stop the mighty tage from embarrassing him. The toe drags were too arrogant, the wingspan too wide. It became too much and Patrick left it all behind to try his fortunes back in Scandinavia, founding the worlds first interspousal boxing league with old pals Ville Leino and Cal O'Reilly. It did not catch on as expected. Now you know the rest of the story...
  11. Surprised Scott Mayfield isn't getting more love as a potential add in this thread. 6'5 220 lbs right shot plays 20+ mpg defensive style. Chips in with a fight or two and "broke out" offensively this past year with 24 points. He would compete with Jokiharju for the #4 out the gate and his presence would provide some insurance to soften the blow when Samuelsson gets banged up.
  12. I appreciate how he's rounded out his game. His path here has been rocky, He's demonstrated the resilience to weather the ups and downs and the self awareness to develop from a highly touted prospect into a versatile secondary contributor. We have young guns on the roster and more coming that will need to "find themselves" as NHL players. We are also facing the departure of veteran leadership with some combination of #21, #28. and #41 moving on after the season. Casey represents is an under the radar candidate to help fill the leadership void and guide some of these young studs.
  13. They have some additional leverage by acquiring his rights. Signing this season with the kings could burn a year off his ELC, whereas waiting to be a UFA would not. Kings offer the fastest track to a second, more lucrative contract.
  14. I come mostly to lurk and expand my perspective on the comings and goings of my favorite sports team. I'm usually rewarded with more diverse and frequently better takes than the media pros provide - I like it when posters flesh out the nuance of the topic by expanding on each others takes with further detail and insight. I LOVE when two posters fundamentally disagree on an (often complex) topic (with multiple potential right answers) and exhaust all of their logical points debating who is "right" before inevitably, devolving into pettily sniping at each other
  15. Fwiw it’s nice that the team shifting into Alamo mode in the second period after stumbling to a one goal lead is not the Sabres. keep the pressure on. We got this
  16. I think those of us who are aware of the white pants are trying to pretend that they wont be wearing them
  17. See a little bit of everything as far as post draft for guys playing in the Czech senior league leading up to their draft year. Chytl - right to AHL Necas - back to Czech for a year Hronek - OHL then finishing the year in the AHL Could go any way at this point but if he’s good enough to stick around until near the end of camp and looks like an AHL top 6 I think you have to play him there
  18. His hometown and teams with no state income tax….
  19. Same. Disappointing is an understatement. Some of my earliest memories are watching Sabres with my old man and RJ’s Stuuuuuuuuuu Barnes calls
  20. Don't need the tickets but I'll be at the game (and more importantly at the Billy Goat beforehand) reminding any Hawks fans that'll listen about Joker for Nylander, Hasek for Beauregard and even JP Dumont for Grosek. Here's to the scoreboard resembling our trade history with these goofballs
  21. Kyle Clifford put on waivers by St Louis, I wouldn't add him to our line up but possible precursor to a Tarasenko deal to an Eichel deal also ran?
