Why do I never get Sabres games on GR since they went with yet another app. (Audacy). Man this franchise f's anything they touch. Guess I'm not missing much to put a positive spin on this.

I had the same problem with the Audacy and GR apps.  I solved the problem by going to acdacy.com and acquiring the station there.  Thus far, no problems.

Risto has been bad forever and a strong piece of evidence in favor of analytics.

Funny Risto is brought up tonight.  I was listening to the Flyers broadcast of the Bruins game.  They (homers broadcasters) marveled over his physical play and stated  that Risto never learned the proper way to play defense because he played for a lousy team/organization since his career began.  Guess they don't follow analytics lol

Slow start but after that they were simply the better team on the ice. Was far from the most entertaining or exciting game I've seen this year and I'm sure you can argue the Canucks were bad, but there were some nice goals, some good team play, coordinated passing, and effort. Yes, it can all crash down when teams take notice or when we play the good ones, but this is better than expected regardless.

Biggest surprising positives so far. Obviously Thompson at center, who saw that coming???  Also Hagg has been surprisingly decent. Philly gave up on him and tossed him into the deal and supposedly he was a bad unreliable D man but so far better than Montour or some of the other stiffs that have come through here recently. Stable and solid so far and a reasonable replacement for McCabe. See if it continues.

One negative, I thought Miller was horrible tonight. A better team might have made us pay for some of his bad gaffs. Has to be better,

Lets give KA some love too.  He had to ask for Hagg

    Nice win...relentless...pressure...turnovers...

But we know it didn't count because Vancouver is one of the worst teams in the NHL(common theme...every opponent the Sabres beat are apparently the worst team in the NHL according to posters)

Say what they will.  But we get 2 points for every win just like they got for beating us!

Do you really think Mittelstadt has roughly equivalent value to a 3rd round pick?

Do you really think that Zegras or Krebs could be acquired for a mid-late 1st and a 3rd?

Your first question was answered in my post above.  Regarding the second question, Bisson is the agent for Eichel and Zegras.  Lets get er done.

No.  We lose Eichel and Mitts ?  We get Zegras or Krebs plus a pick and prospect?  Terrible trade and overly complicated.

We just signed Mitts and we have few centers. Why throw him in this?

These would be two separate trades.  Four pieces for Eichel - two firsts, one third and a top prospect.  The second trade is a 1st and a 3rd/Mitts for Zegras/Krebs.  I throw in Mitts as an option because in order to get value you have to give up some value.  Mitts seems to be on the rise and I'm rooting for that. However, IMO Zegras and Krebs have more upside.

Not that we would trade with Montreal but Suzuki would have to be a part of the package.

Regarding the Carolina offer sheet to Jaspari Kotkoniemi at $6.1M.  How about this:

Montreal does not match offer sheet and receives Carolina's 2022 1st and 3rd round picks.

Montreal trades their 2022 1st round pick, Carolina's 1st round and 3rd round pick plus a high level prospect to Buffalo for John Bob.

Buffalo trades one of their four 2022 first round picks to Anaheim or Vegas plus the Carolina 3rd round pick or Mitts for Zegras or Krebs.

    Essentially:

Montreal loses Kotkomiemi and a high prospect and gets John Bob.

    Anaheim/Vegas gets a 2022 1st round pick, a 3rd round pick or Mitts for Zebras/Krebs.

Buffalo gets a 1st round pick, Zegras/Krebs, a high level prospect from Montreal and a 3rd round pick or keeps Mitts.

    Any takers?

I like McTavish as a better fit in Buffalo.

Zegras is a flashy perimeter player.  McTavish plays a north/south aggresive more in your face style.

I really like McTavish's game and attitude while on the ice.  McTavish and Drysdale = sign me up!  Anything more is icing.

I just get the feeling Vegas is Jack's ultimate destination.  They are a Cup contender but lack the true superstar up front .... to make their team more dynamic.  I think their owner will do anything to get this team over the top.

Could be.  And a side thought if JE goes to LV.  The Sabs could be the only NHL franchise in history that, within a four year period, trades their two best players who then led their new team to a Stanley Cup the following season.  We can't be that cursed - can we?

  10. I will always be indebted to the Pegula's for purchasing the Sabres and rescuing the Bills.  They are good people who will admit that they have made mistakes.  In fact, they don't have to admit it, because its pointed out to them every day.  Has the recent past been frustrating - of course.  But its not worth hating over.  Changes will be made and fanbase confidence will once again be restored.  The Sabres will rise again!

I turned 78 today. I need to reprogram my mind on young vs old 😂

    Happy Birthday Radar.

Too bad that the Sabres could not have played better on your day.  Too bad for a lot of things and too bad for Ralph.  He came in with so much promise, meeting will fans incognito, gaining their view and seemingly a good coaching communicator.  You and I have seen many things in our time, and this shall pass too.  Someday the Sabres will rise again!

If Botts was the reason behind the ROR trade  can honestly understand that sentiment especially if Botts didn't give a good explanation on how paying it would better the return specifically. If Botterill told the Pegulas they would get a better return but never gave them a specific reasoning/example I too would likely be a bit unconvinced.

Yes, and TP admitted in his press conference that there were communication issues with JB.

    From TwoBillsDrive.

Same - same from TBD.  It was during the Jimmy Vesey sweepstakes - before the 2016-17 season.  I followed the JV thread while posts were pouring in and hope was high that he would sign with Buffalo.

And now -- what a difference almost four years makes.

This probably isn't the right thread for fun random user-created trades, but I'm not sure which one is. Sorry!

Trying to fix the skill problems, with emphasis on what the toughness posters want to improve as well.

Casey Mittelstadt, prospect for Josh Anderson from Columbus
Rasmus Ristolainen, Sam Reinhart, Victor Olofsson, 2nd rounder for Matt Tkachuk, Sam Bennett
    Vesey for a pick
Miller (sorry True!), Thompson, Sheary, 2nd rounder for Stastny, Reaves, Carrier

    Skinner - Eichel - Bennett
    Johansson - Stastny - Tkachuk
    Carrier - Asplund - Anderson
    Zemgus - Larry - Reaves

    Dahlin - Montour
    Scandella - Jokiharju
    McCabe - Bogosian

Cozens moves Asplund down a line next year.

Yah I know this is silly

Very interesting and would seem to make the team better and tougher.  Would it fit the cap?

    Maybe.

However, I thought we weren't going to look at the past to drive the future...Ralph?  What gives, Krueger?  Either we look at the past and use it to drive what you're doing, or you start with a blank slate, like you keep saying. If RK is being honest, that's not the reasoning behind putting Bogo and Dahlin together.

I know it's ridiculous, but this is what RK has been saying.

Not ridiculous but a good question.  I believe that RK is honest and a man of very high integrity.  However, the team is mired in a long losing streak.  As a good coach he is looking at all options.  Even checking for anything positive from last year.

Now that opinion does not address the Skinner-Eichel combination.  I cannot understand that.  They were productive last year.  To me, why wouldn't RK try it - a couple of goals might be the result.  I remember seeing them play 5 on 5 this year but it was only for a couple of shifts.  Bottom line - I have complete faith in RK.  There must be a reason.
