  1. What really would be funny is after all of this the kids come up next year and do well enough to end up 15th in nhl :D

Those of you that think this will never happen, Some of them are capable of that, we better keep them down another year.

I think this is a very real possibility. Maybe not 15th but something like 8th or 10th from the bottom. Even if they traded the Hoff I'm not convinced Risto, Zad, Myers (he's finally found his game again) and Pysyk won't be a decent top 4 that is superior to this club's current top 4. The real issue is whether we sign a decent goaltender. I really don't think Enroth can get the job done over the course of a full season.

  2. Do you think Ehrhoff is going to want to stick around here for a few more tire fire seasons? It will be a few years before anyone they are obtaining now even reach the NHL, let alone their potential and this team reaches a level where they are viewed as a serious cup contender. Ehrhoff had to be begged by TP to come here in the first place with the promise this team was going to be a cup contender real soon.

That's a different point, my comment was regarding them not being competitve before their deals are up. I guess I'm just more optimistic in the timeframe when this thing gets turned around. If Hoff wants out then I hope Murray knows this before anything is publically stated and he goes ahead and pulls off a deal. With the depth we have at D in our system I really don't give a ###### whether they trade him or not, I just want the return to be reasonable.

  3. They couldn't get them on a direct flight???

I flew from Phoenix to Filthadelphia and then to Buffalo in less time then that, the first flight was less then 3 hours IIRC with the second one about an hour.

Originally I thought it was a good deal, expecially if they re-sign Halak, but now thats its becoming apparent that they intend to flip him to the Wild for more Lotto tickets and potential, and Stewart was brought over to be flipped in whats probably a favour to Uncle Brian for other Lotto Tickets and Potential I think its even worse. It sounds like they have no intention of making this team any better in the immediate future, and that we haven't even hit rock bottom yet with how bad this team can be on the ice. Theres no way decent FAs are even going to look at Buffalo unless they are only in it for a pay day, and they might as well deal away Myers and Ehrhoff because this team won't be competitive before their deals are up and will probably demand trades out of here soon enough along with any other vet they have on the roster.

I find this is just a tad bit of an overreaction. I believe that you are right that this team has not hit rock bottom as far as NHL talent goes but I find that to be perfect timing with what is being discussed as an incredible draft next season. Plus we have young guys already in the pipeline developing so it's not as if we don't have a young talent base forming, they are just doing it away from this tire fire of an NHL team (which I'm fine with). Give us a strong draft this year and next and we will start to see our patience pay off in three years time with plenty of term left on Myers and 'Hoffs contract. I would rather we start turning this thing around soon as well but give us one more year and we will be fine.

  4. And now Ted Nolan is hemming and hawing. TPegs screwed the pooch on this one letting Murray go around Lafontaine. As I said before if the Sabres lose Nolan, this is more than a P.R. blunder. It is a major screw up. Nuts this is very disappointing.

TN has done a reasonable job for sure but he is replaceable. Without sounding like TM I agree that you are in or you are out. If he hasn't made a decision by the end of the week I would be making the decision for him.

  5. This is a very good deal for the Sabres. They get a decent prospect, a 1st round pick and a potential additional 1st round. Halak is a piece to be moved later.

At 26 years old, an extension for Stewart should become a priority. He has all the attributes a team looks for. This is a guy I can see part of something special when this team is taking that step to contender status 3-4 years from now.

Good job by TM. Looking forward to more moves.

I agree with all of this, I'm in no hurray to trade Stewart. Could end up like lupal for the leafs where a change of scenery got this guy back to his previous high form.

Didn't the blues trade a bunch to pry him out of Colorado just a couple I years ago?

  6. I'm taking my five year old daughter to the daddy daughter dance tonight at her school. She hasn't stopped talking about it all week and is very excited to get all dressed up to go out tonight. That shapes up for a pretty fantastic Friday night.

That sounds cool man, have fun.

  7. So our trade returns will be high draft picks and low end grinders, no marquee players acquired through trade or free agency... Interesting, Mr. Murray must not be getting the responses he thought he would get for our assets

When you say marquee players do you mean very young guys likely in other teams farm systems? Because no big name players will be traded to us at the deadline. They need those players for their playoff push.

  8. All this talk of injury is ridiculous.... Fine by that logic, don't let miller drive anywhere until he's traded for fear of an accident, and always have someone test his food before he eats to see if it's poisoned..... How often are goalies seriously injured, the answer is not very often (barring a lucic sighting).... Let the guy play until he is traded (if he is traded)

You knock on wood God Damit! Knock on wood!

  9. @TSNBobMcKenzie

BUF GM Tim Murray is open to taking offers on virtually every player on his roster. Teams looking for D will be calling on Ehrhoff/Myers.

    @TSNBobMcKenzie

There's no guarantee he'll be traded, but BUF asked Christian Ehrhoff for list of 8 teams he doesn't want to be traded to (per his NTC).

Everytime I see your name as the last post I get a little more excited that something has gone down! Keep up the good work on those tweets Corner (especially for those of us without twitter accounts/experience).

  10. How good of a prospect is Shane Prince? I had never heard of him until a few days ago (not saying that negatively I truly just don't know). Is it realistic to get him for Ott, which is like a 1st round pick at least probably if as many teams as advertised are interested in him? Or would we give up Ott plus a few draft picks maybe like a 2nd and 4th for him. Whats would his value be you think?

Ya it sounds like we should get more out of that deal after doing some more reading on him. I honestly have no idea what Ott will bring back in a trade I guess. I would think pretty decent and if it's Ottawa I would try and get a draft pick out of them as they are no lock to win a playoff round. I'd much rather get a 1st out of Ottawa then a 1st out of a powerhouse in the west or Pitt or Boston in the east.

Then again if it's Murray trading for him I'd feel at ease as I'm sure he has the most intimate knowledge of their farm/young players.
