Kinda slipping by in here, but is “Blackwood to the Sharks for a 6th” the 1st move we’ve seen where we wonder if it was on Adams’ radar?

Personally, I think Blackwood is both anti-vibes and a questionable talent and would rather keep UPL, but do any of you think this was a missed opportunity?

I think I would have been pissed.  That's not even an upgrade and would be a sign that they're probably done.

Lance Lysowski in His Mailbag this AM purposed a VO, RFA Rights to Brett Murray and 2024 3rd for Pesce. That seems way to light of an offer.

It would have to be VO at 50% retained, Murray and a 2024 1st to get things started IMO

If we can change that first to Philly second then maybe.  But it still may only be one year of Pesce so I’d be hesitant to include a first.

  3. An 8 year deal only eats 2 ufa years no?

I kind of like the way this Dahlin situation is working out if he signs for 8 years now.  3 year bridge and then 8 year deal.  We’re only projected to pay maybe $2 mil more per season (10 vs 6) and get to eat a bunch more ufa years.

What’s the risk of going 3 years now with Owen and then 8 after that similar to Dahlin? Do we feel the cap is going to skyrocket and that’s the concern cine extension in 3 years?  The bridge and then long term deal would give us essentially 12 years of Owen rather than 9.

Another dark horse candidate would be Kevin Shattenkirk, he had very good metrics on a historically bad Anaheim Defensive and is a RHD.

Probably could be had for a two year 4.5 million AAV deal.

Getting a little up there in age at 34 though no?  I always remember him playing a pretty physical game.  Just wondering if there's anything left in the tank.

There was an Athletic Article on how Bob Essensa the Bruins Goaltending Coach made a small tweak in Ullmark’s Style and how much he improved as a result.

But don’t we have some god of a goalie coach?  Or Atleast well regarded when we came over?  It’s been 4 years and our goaltending has been terrible.

Mike Bales has been giving closer to Steve Smith results than say an equally hyped Sam Ventura (I know tough to compare different divisions.)

Adams praised Bales after last season despite finishing 29th in the league in even strength save percentage.  But is it not worth considering a change at this point?

That is was the obvious signing ever adams has talked  Countless times about signing him July 1st ..

Anyone could have made this guess and said they had sources

Sure but he’s come out with specifics regarding amount and term.  Anything deviating more than half mil from $10 per or deviating from 8 years and you may be right.  If it ends up being 8x$10 it will confirm that’s he’s not just talking out his ass.

Goalies tend to age gracefully, so I am not worried about Helle’s age unless his next contract puts him into his late 30’s.  Even then, that’s alot of time to make changes.

For those saying Helle, yeah to the trade, are you more OK with…

    Helle plus UPL/Comrie

    or

Levi plus some other mid tier starting goalie.

If choice 3 is Levi plus UPL/Comrie, I am 100% on the Helle bandwagon.

Agreed but that dream choice 4 being Helle plus Levi is what gets me going.  We're legit contenders overnight having those 2 for the next 5 years.

The Sabres are currently built around "what could be."  They're built for the future.  Hellebuyck will soon be in the past.

Also if they trade away Levi they'll be regretting it in less than two years.

True.  But the future needs to start NOW.  I'm not pissing away another year of Dahlin, Power on ELC, Quinn and Peterka on ELC etc because we are hoping and praying on a rookie goalie who couldn't beat out Sam Montembeault for Canadas IIHF bid.

Don't get me wrong though.  I friggen love the potential of Levi and voted no in this poll.  No chance I'm trading him.  However, they NEED to bring in a 1A/1B to play with him.  I'm not putting all my hopes for this upcoming season (which could be special if things fall right) into a rookie goalie after watching the garbage we watched last year in net....

Id have no problem trading picks for him. I just wouldn't want to trade the future at a winger position for a rental. I heard people on here and Twitter saying it would take 13 and Savoie or Kulich PLUS something and I'm thinking: pass.

Right?!  No way I’m paying that unless it’s for Helly with an extension in place.  Levi and Helly for the foreseeable future would be worth it.  Hart?  Not even close.

Well, there’s goes that dumb theory that the Sabres would’ve preferred a late 2nd rounder in 2024.

That said, I have real concerns on why he didn’t sign earlier. In the least, he could’ve  played in every Amerks playoff game. He doesn’t seem like a competitor.

Huge thumbs up to ur first point and thumbs down for your second.

Just weed, which is not just good its Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Weed does not make you lazy...... that's just an untrue stereotype... There are a tremendous amount of people in all walks of life who enjoy it, hold jobs, pay taxes, and retire with money in the bank etc...

I've probably known more Alcoholics with less ambitiion that are struggling with their health then anyone using weed.

Agreed.  Hour after an edible and I’m ready to clean the entire house and look after other chores I’d been putting off.

Everyone uses substances for various reasons and if you’re a prototypical lazy pot head then thats on the individual (perhaps they’re not using an appropriate strain).  That’s not everyone though.  The stigma around cannabis use in generally is thankfully changing.  We still have a ways to go.

  12. I have lived with chronic nerve pain for several years.  I’ve been prescribed a number of pharmaceutical options including oxy.  I hated the hard drugs and it came with a litany of side effects and other health concerns.

My medical cannabis has helped with that nerve pain more than any other of the pharmaceutical concoctions they threw at me.  Unfortunately you damn Yankees are still living in the draconian ages and I don’t get my medicine when crossing the border.

I’m aware of all the sceptics out there.  I also know this medicine allows me to function, run my own business, coach my boys sports teams and live a much more fulfilling life than I had been.  To each their own I guess.

I doubt it happens, but the Oilers and Rangers are close to the cap and they have RFAs in Bouchard and Miller that need to be signed.

Those are the type of d man I would imagine would cost Östlund or Rosen.

I would love to get Miller.

Odds of either being available is probably slimmer then the suggested UFA guys signing with Buff.  I would rather a big move like Miller and would give up a Rosen or maybe Östlund but unlikely it happens.

I'd love to see him play down there to see how he fits in,. But I also understand that he just might not be ready to step in A lineup That's doing pretty well without him.

He just put up 29 points in 19 playoff games for the ice.  He’s one of our top prospects.

I, along with several others, think there is a legit shot he makes the Sabres in October.  No chance he’s not ready to step in the lineup for Amerks.  It would be a missed development opportunity if they dont give him any games.

I’m guessing he plays by atleast game 3 regardless of how the series has gone.

I think he plays, but not game 1. He’ll probably arrive in Rochester today or tomorrow. The team will bus to Hershey tomorrow, so that’s a quick turnaround. Doubt they hastily throw him in like that. But by game 2 or 3, I think it should happen, especially if they’re down.

Agreed.  He just tore up the whl playoffs, high first round draft pick.  Imo it’s in Savoie, Amerks and Sabres best interests to have him play

The Leafs and Oilers are the reason I harp on defense and goaltending. Scoring 300 goals is fun, but to win on the playoffs you need to kill penalties, clear the zone quickly, grind and get key saves from the goalies.

The leafs scored 2 goals or less in something like 7 straight playoff games.  It was their scoring that let them down when the checking got tight.
