And everything he has done has been an abject failure. Hanging onto Krueger, gutting the scouting department, signing Hall to a ridiculous deal, not addressing the goaltending situation, terrible FA signings. He even payed Taylor Hall to play for the Bruins in the playoffs.
He's got one year of experience as a GM, and that experience is of managing the Sabres to the bottom of the league.
Sure the Pegulas trust him, but they trusted Botterill and Murray, and they fired both those guys after only 3 years in.
Adams has two years to right this ship, and he's about to trade the only consistently productive fowards this team has had the last five years for prospects who haven't even managed to be point-a-game players in the AHL.
You think Pegula is going to be patient watching the Sabres bottom-out the next two seasons waiting for Adams' kids make it to the big leagues? Eichel and Reinhart didn't save Murray. Dahlin, Mittelstadt, and Cozens didn't save Botteril.
Adams better figure out a way to win soon, because I doubt Terry has found religion when it comes to patience with his GM.
Your question was "In other words, he's no different than the last two failed GMs who held the job before him?"
I answered your question with basically he wasn't off the street like Murray and Botterill was, he was in the organization already. Being around since basically 2011, don't you think he knows how the Pegulas are? Again, he has assurances or he wouldn't have taken the position.
I didn't like the hire, but the guy is smart. He has been a player, coach, agent, and worked on the business side, he took his time to add to his staff, made changes on the fly when necessary (Nightingale) and is going slow and deliberate. -

Because he's an inexperienced GM who doesn't understand that "culture" is something that is developed, not created, and is under the delusion that NHL GMs are given the time and space to build a team from the ground up?

He's very different. He came in on the business side, observed, and made recommendations to gut it. He then helped do the same to the hockey department. He gained the Pegula's trust, and has assurances he will be given the time to see his vision succeed.

I think Irbe is under contract for another 2 years but since no one has mentioned him I wouldn't worry about it currently (mainly because there's a million other things to worry about in this org).
I believe you meant Mike Bales.

It involves nerves. It can look fine and he can say it hurts. Prove he's lying.
Bingo. And this is the card the Eichel Camp is playing looking for a move.

If they don't expand analytics they'll continue to think Frolik makes them a better team.
Frolik was a "Krueger Special", a player Ralph requested. Unfortunately, JB fulfilled it. 😐

Also, don't be shocked when Eichel is traded and doesn't have any type of surgery done on his neck.

The lack of flak Botterill gets for the Sabres troubles tells me he made the right friends.
LOL Or, they understand how handcuffed he was.

Gotta quarantine from Ari to NYS? How long?
Also, beyond Hall, it's entirely possible that Sheahan and Rieder could be sent packing.
They are both useful 4th liners on minimum contracts. Contenders frequently add those types for late-round picks for the playoffs.
Granato said he is flying commercial so I am guessing 7 days but I really don't know.

Arttu in for Fogarty, Caggiula in quarantine. By the end of his week there, there will spots open probably.

No, I think His a Cheap Depth Forward that plays out the season.
Except Blackwell scores goals
Caggiula did as well until this year.

This is a good pick up, think Colin Blackwell with a little more grit. I like it.

Every article I see reads like Rutherford fired him after "evaluating our Hockey Operations department", his direct quote.
Fired October 26th, 2020, Rutherford resigned January 28th. It may have been a part of why he resigned, but not THE reason. It does seem they are very close personally. -
Just to add, Rutherford fired Karmanos in Pittsburgh, for what it's worth.

Looks like they are going by his Twitter handle.

Jesper Olofsson stayed home to play due to all the uncertainty.
I am looking forward to seeing Dalton Smith, he worked on his skating and skills in the off season. UPL as well, he needs to show the AHL isn't too big for him.

Well no we can definitely admit it went down as the season went on, but we do know that's when the line mates begin to factor in more prominently. His numbers did look good with Larsson after October, for one.
Eye-test wise, I honestly do remember him getting in for chances last year and just failing to convert a lot. That's where the bad luck factors in - we know he has to ability to finish. His TOI was 14th on the team, so I'm firm on the belief, with that expected goals, and what we've see him do in the past, he should have been getting more than that, and that's BEFORE we factor in what a quality centre might bump that up to.
This isn't to totally absolve Skinner. You actually have to do the converting, I get that. I'm just betting on a statistical regression to the mean, and my knowledge that Skinner can score goals, before I buy the idea he shouldn't be getting a fair shake at it.
Yes, I think being teamed with Lazar and Sheahan is not a fair shake.
No, really?
Yes. My guess, and this is just my feeling, he knew him previously and thought his PK/defensive skills would help immediately.

The minute I saw him on waivers I knew you’d be posting. At least we can laugh about it now. I always forget this JBOT disaster when I’m listing his mistakes in judgement.
Frolik was someone Ralph wanted and requested.

A very good signing for Rochester, nice to see.

He has a short last name. Short names look odd with big numbers. I put my kid in 5 in mites for the same reason. He wore 65 last year out of necessity and it didn't look right. Back to 5 this year.
I have never thought of that, I agree. 👍

Why so Koraby?
He had that number in Junior and with Edmonton, he likes the look of a single number and as an homage to Jean Beliveau.

I would love to see Fleury in blue and gold, always one of the best dressed and has good takes on equipment and designs. Oh, he's also a good goalie and would be perfect as that "bridge" guy for a few years.

Argh it's not real, though. No number choice yet
He interviewed with Brian Duff and said he chose number 4. Would have chose 9 if available.

What about this Houser guy mentioned in the Amerks thread?
I feel if Houser plays anywhere besides Cincinnati the Amerks and Sabres are in trouble.

Not this year, unless something disastrous happens, or he dominates the AHL.
I imagine he's a backup to Johansson right now, who has an AHL all-star last year. I like 6K, but he's got a ways to go. Hasn't established himself in the AHL yet.
Thank you. People seem to forget Johansson played really well last year for Rochester.
