  1. Nothing worse than being on vacation and getting a text message from your boss that we need to talk when you get back. I reached out to him and asked what was up and he mentioned there was a reduction in workforce of 20-35% and that 75% of the physicians from our division where being laid off. It was done over a Zoom Meeting earlier that morning and of course the higher ups still had not shared the list of who was being cut with him( He is a very good friend of mine we have known each other since college so I know he wasn’t BSing me) I checked my work email and unfortunately I got an invite to the meeting and My Severance Package was emailed to me this morning.

Gotta love the practice of maximizing profits for shareholders over patient care, but that’s healthcare now a days

  2. How about changing of the front office where Adams is moved to a different role while Jason Karmanos is promoted to GM and Sam Ventura to Associate GM. All the final hockey decisions would be made by Karmanos.

Karmanos has been a part of three Stanley Cup winning Front Offices, Ventura has been part of two. They have a strong relationship with Mike Sullivan should he come available and Sullivan has worked with Bales in the past.

Karmanos was Jim Rutherford’s first choice for the GM Job in Vancouver.

Adams is the primary reason that Karmanos and Ventura are with the Sabres. They are responsible for the team drafting better and if they more control the team would be in a much better position moving forward. One such example would be having Luca Del Bella Cruz as a prospect over Leinonen.

  3. I would rather keep him and see how he does with a new coach

    That being said.

I would look around the league for teams that have cap issues and need to make moves.

Vegas sticks out as a team that needs relief.

Nicholas Roy has 3 years left on his deal at 3 million AAV with zero trade protection. He is your prototypical 4C, doesn’t give much if any offense but is a very good defender.

As a former draft pick of theirs, is there a deal to be made around a Krebs for Roy Trade.

I am worried about Chandler Stephenson as his metrics have really dropped this year and that he would not be able to come anywhere near this year production with the Sabres.

Will Carrier on the other hand, sign me up.

A Fourth Line of Greenway-Roy-Carrier would be an immense upgrade

Why does everyone point to Brunette as the main reason for the rise and fall of the Devils?

Didn’t exchanging 3 veteran defencemen (Hamilton, Graves, Severson) for 3 rookies (Hughes, Nemec Bahl) in their starting 6 play a huge role?

I mean, those are talented kids but we know 1st-hand about having too many young D. The vets were +66, the kids -31.

All this and the fact his goaltenders could not stop a beach ball

Just read Fariburn's rundown of the candidates and walked away almost certain it's going to be Lindy.

Adams had a plan in place and 4 watchwords: experienced, structured, accountable, immediately available.

Of the candidates he listed: Woodcraft and Evason aren't that experienced, Boudreau and Gallant aren't that structured, Brind'Amour and Quenville (probably, for well-known reasons) aren't immediately available.

    That leaves Ruff and Berube.

I don't know of any connection between Kevyn and Berube, or anything to feed the sense that he's a target Kevyn feels he can speak about with the kind of directness and certainty that Kevyn used yesterday.

Lindy, on the other hand, is someone he knows well and has worked together with.

Lindy is also someone who can not only fire up the players, he can fire up a moribund fan base.

What has Kevyn preached from day one? Passion for the jersey and for the city, people who want to be here and to win for the people of Buffalo.

Nobody epitomizes the Adams checklist like Lindy Ruff, it's not even close.

    It's coming.

I would add Mike Sullivan onto the list of possibilities if he gets fired.

Has a relationship with Jason Karmanos and Sam Ventura.  His 3 year contract extension starts next season with a 5.5 million dollar AAV. The Sabres and Penguins could split that 50/50 while the Sabres give him a 3 year deal.

Sounds like Kevyn's GM balls dropped today.    Good to see, but now he has to walk the walk.    Will he?   Or will he continue to bury his head in the sand when things go sideways?

I would also love to see the internal cap disappear, no more of this bottom five in league spending year after year

Right but for one reason or another I do not buy that just because Granato got fired that grants Adams an additional two years. You could can Adams and keep the coach. Or you could re-assign the coach to a hockey ops position to save face

Most if not all experienced HC will want some guarantee that he and the GM that hired them get  two full seasons especially from this owner

If the drought does hit 14 years hopefully I am wrong

Well that would be really dumb and completely unacceptable

Also why would the new coach necessarily get 2 years?

But yes if you are right (and, respectfully, I’ll hope that, like with your thought that Granato would be coming back next year, you are NOT) it takes a bit of the silver lining hopefulness for a better future out of the day

    So thanks for that

For the simple fact that this owner has a reputation around the league for firing people too quickly. Granato is the first coach since Pegula bought the team to last three full seasons and was the 6th longest tenured coach in the league. So there is a justification for the decision.

Firing the new HC after one season? That permanently cements that rep.

Besides Adams said it himself, he has worked for Terry Pegula in some capacity since Terry bought the team.

Much like  Matt Ellis it seems he will never leave

That’s the most positive thing, here: the 5 year timeline appears to be on the mark. If Adams had got to enter into next season with Granato still here, he could have been the sacrificial lamb hiring to get KA ‘25-‘26. I think this means KA himself is on hot seat for 24-25 and that’s the WAY it should be.

    Positive development

Adams is probably here for the duration of the next coach, 25-26 is his first season to potentially be on the hot seat imo

Of course some team could want Karmanos and Adams becomes POHO to keep him
