Still the greatest late night performance ever.

I am not a Doors fan, but this is great.

Also, great is the first glimmer of light after totality in your avatar.  Great to see that too, my friend.

What toll has time taken?   He is smarter and more patient as a coach..   He recently led a very young NJ team way past Buffalo and to their best point season ever.

I am still far more worried about the roster than the HC. Watch the playoffs and you see we need at least 6 players.

Ruff has 2 years.  Adam’s better get him a few more players.

I agree with you and I hope that it works.  His coaching style back when turned boys into men, but by 2005 he had a far better roster than the Sabres have now.  NJ was a young team, but a better team than the Sabres are now and Ruff was fired when NJ slid backwards.

Adam really has this offseason to build the team.  Seems that Ruff will be involved in that, which is key.

Both talked about the 'next level' - we all know that means playoffs.  I want it to mean cups and I have my doubts that Ruff will get the Sabres there - Adams too.

Again, I am hopeful.  As I have said many times, without hope there is nothing.

  3. Echo chamber alert.

I hope it works out for the best, of course.  I had to vote that it was a dumb move though.  I would have gone with Gallant.

It's been 25 years since 1999.  Almost 20 since 2006.  Time as taken it's toll on Lindy, as it always does for all of us.  He said he is super excited, but it appeared that he was barely awake.  Maybe he will be different with the players, but he was always very animated when he ever spoke with any of the press back when.

In was wondering what happened to Randall Flagg. I enjoyed his insights.

He has grown up since joining as a teen over 10 years ago.

Married for sure and maybe children.

He has been known to take extended breaks in the recent years.

Keep an eye on the  Bills thread he often will pop in there around draft time.

  5. He is on an extended break he told Taro and me.  Lots of real life stuff going on that he needs to focus on.  He said that we would be back.  He did make one drive by post fairly recently (early spring).

Taro took his annual Lent break and has not returned.  I think the season got to him and he has extended his break.

  6. Maybe we should not read too much into this.

It's difficult for anyone in a new situation.

    It takes time.

Cliffton struggled at first, but was much better in the second half.

That said, obviously Granato and the video guy and some other guy could not get the Sabres to play consistantly or to the next level.  They were fired (is Granato's contract guaranteed ? - his extension was to kick in now), but looks like Matt Ellis and the rest are good enough since they were not fired - at least not yet.

Nothing worse than being on vacation and getting a text message from your boss that we need to talk when you get back. I reached out to him and asked what was up and he mentioned there was a reduction in workforce of 20-35% and that 75% of the physicians from our division where being laid off. It was done over a Zoom Meeting earlier that morning and of course the higher ups still had not shared the list of who was being cut with him( He is a very good friend of mine we have known each other since college so I know he wasn’t BSing me) I checked my work email and unfortunately I got an invite to the meeting and My Severance Package was emailed to me this morning.

Gotta love the practice of maximizing profits for shareholders over patient care, but that’s healthcare now a days

    Sorry to hear this news.

Crazy times.  You would be welcome  anywhere in Canada.  I hightly recommend Nova Scotia, especially Halifax.

That cannot be a good feeling.

I don’t know much about your industry but I am sure you will land on your feet. Maybe not on your radar but there is a shortage in Canada.

    Good luck.

Seeing that you failed to call dibs, I sent out an official invitation.  Sucka !!

  8. Voted Gallant.

He is available and is the best shot at getting the Sabres into the playoff next season, IMHO.

Right now all they need to worry about is making it.  Once they do that will make a world of difference for this team.

Once they start making the playoff regularly and Gallant wears out his welcome bring in someone to get them over the top.

Well, hockey forum: @Richard is it "Rich - erd" or "Ree - shard"?

    Good question.

Seems that this may be a 1 bomb drive by and we may never know.

It would be kinda neat to have another sexy frenchie Canadien around here, eh !!

  10. It's always a sad day when anyone loses their job.

Granato was hired to get the kids to a certain point.  That is what he does and he did it well here in very short order.

I really thought Granato would have one more season and then the Sabres would bring in the guy to get them to and then win in the playoff.

Who is out there with a playoff winning record?

Back in the day the Sabres brought in Bowman.  It almost worked, but he wanted to be GM too.  Turns out Scotty was a great coach, but not so great GM.

If it were me I would hire Gallant.

Why hasn’t Kevin Adam’s been fired???

Is this the one and only 'Tricky Dicky' ??

    Nice first post, I guess.

Do you prefer Mr. Tricky or Mr. Dicky ??

Paging @inkman to the Tricky Dicky thread.

Pay what you must, make the trade, and get this guy. Older? Yes. A tad bit pricey? Yes. Byram +.
    A guy can dream.

I watched him play here in Halifax and felt he would be a very good one.

Very nearly the last pick in 2013.  He will be Flames Captain, I think.  If the Sabres could somehow get him I would make him Captain.

  13. Skipping meals is never a good idea, IMO.

    Exercise is good.

I am kind of going the other direction, but I started out a scrawny little weakling - less than 150 until the last year or so.  Now I still am a weakling, but not as scrawny.  I have not weighed myself in forever, but I am more than 150 that's for sure.

  14. I firmly believe the core guys will develop into a regular playoff team.

This year they focused on cutting down the goals against and playing team defence.  If not for that, which I think had to happen to learn what it takes to win in the playoff, and was the goal scoring machine of last year they may just have made it - the cut off this season looks to be 89 points in the Prince of Wales Conference.  Campbell looks to be 100 points playoff cutoff.

If the scoring comes back even a bit next season and if 6K continues as he did in the second half of this season and if his backup is not some dude off the scrap pile and ... the Sabres will be in the playoff.  Book it.

You scoundrel (I mean that not in a negative way, but in a how dare you way) - you know @Eleven and I are big time supporters of Norwich City FC.

I'll have you know, The Canaries have scored a goal.  A few of them, in fact.
