Seriously, World Juniors to this in 48 hrs?
The triumph of narcissistic personality disorder over content.
Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultraconfidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism.
I'll be back I'm sure. I'm just going to take a break. maybe finish the porn novel started for me.
I'm too old for this schlock.
Happy Holidays folks.
Enjoy the hockey.
Peace all.

I admire someone who can see intrigue and conspiracy in the slightest gesture. You are good people, my kind of people.
Elbows? hmmmm?.....it's got to be a Rocky Horror Picture Show tranny thing for sure.

I don't just like basketball, I love basketball. If Buffalo had a pro team I might be a bigger NBA fan than NHL fan.
*dives into bunker*
Let's see, yes, right here on the stock ticker, yes, TBGED stock is down 34 pts in heavy trading since 1 o'clock today.
Wow. I wished I would have shorted that one.

The beginning of the end...

That's a very loose use of the word connection.
It seems they were not formally connected to ISIS, but they self- identified with ISIS. \
That's is an important difference, I think.

He is solid. Watch how he blocks out players in from of the net. I guess you could say he has a "big butt" because opposing players have a tough time trying to push by him. He sticks his rear end out very well to stop forwards from operating around the paint. That's a good skill to have
Nicely put.

Simply, I think you have the player GMTM wanted this year.
Solid guy that is able to play within himself, carries his lunch-pail, and doesn't need accolades.
He's more comfortable taking a quieter role this year.
He can block a shot when you need one blocked.
He's not going to light up the offensive zone.
At 20 min a game we aren't noticing him much.
That's because he's doing his job.

Better for Sabre fans.
But I'm trying not to harp on the way last year's team was coached.
Me neither. But the demands are different.
-
They've been paired all season.
I was wondering if people thought one was carrying the other.
I think it is more a matter of the style of play than the pairing.
Last year Gorges was asked to turtle in and catch bullets.....he did, and his body paid the price.
This year, the Sabres are getting the puck out of the zone quickly, and they are spending a lot more time up ice.
Better for Gorges.

We went modular with our current home (3rd home). Not really cheaper than building, which they advertised, but a well built home.
You are committed in advance with your choices because it is factory built. The cool thing was that the 2 storey home arrived in 4 pieces, the crane set up at 08:00 AM and we were walking in the home by noon.
Another thing we liked was choosing a property we wanted, country acreage, and getting the house you want on that lot.
No maintenance to do on a new home. I like to landscape, build trails, sheds, small barns and bridges.
Definitely not starter home prices though.
I've long been curious about people who have purchased modular homes.
Do they maintain value?

"I dwell in the past."
MSG is running this one all the time. Are they actually trying to sell beer in Buffalo using Aikmen?
I scratch my head every time I see it and think of the 90s.

I don't think I said that there was. My point was that the Iraq war didn't trigger a wave of Muslim terrorist attacks here; I made this point to refute PA's suggestion that a prolonged US military presence in the ME would result in such attacks.
Okay, thanks. I misunderstood.
-
There were fewer than 5,000 American lives lost in the Iraq war, and there were zero terrorist attacks here between September 11 and the Fort Hood attack in 2009 (which the president referred to as "workplace violence," but that's another conversation), and then none until the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.
It's become an article of faith among some that there is no military solution to terrorism. I agree that military force by itself won't extinguish the root causes of terrorism, but it has been highly successful, in many locations, in quelling violent attacks.
There was no link to Iraq - a secular regime under Sadaam- and a successful terrorist attack before we invaded.

KP is running the Bills, she got duped by Rex.
TP is running the Sabres, nice upward trajectory thus far.
It's a family competition, who can win a championship first? Probably a $1 bet between them.

Yeah I can't wait to sit 3000 feet from the ice in the freezing cold to see players I can't recognize playing against other players I can't recognize. I'm sure this is fun for some, I just can't wrap my head around watching hockey in a football stadium.
An international tailgate party. It'll be fun.

I'm thinking this is going to be part of back-to-back days of outdoor hockey. US vs Canada on New Years Eve and Sabres vs (PIT? EDM? DET?) on New Years Day.
If that's the case I need to make it to both.
Hockey Weekend in North America. :)
-
Which is to say there will be outdoor game, expected to be CAN-USA but schedule/divsions etc., of course, not set yet. But that's the plan.
Per Bob McKenzie
That is awesome.

Sportsnet's got it

Not sure if it has been mentioned, or if I'd necessarily recommend doing it, but I think you're still able to take out 401k/IRA funds without penalty for a down payment on a first time home purchase.
Yes. But money is cheap right now. I would avoid doing this if I could.
The tax deferred benefits and potential growth outweigh the price of a mortgage with good credit.

The Qur'an when you are ready.
Karen Armstrong is very good. Google her ... she has written The History of God and 2 sensational biographies on Muhammad (PBUH).
If interested, PM me and I will relay my understanding to you.
I'd also recommend Karen Armstrong's works. Former Roman Catholic Nun and a very good scholar on the origins of the mainstream monotheistic faiths.

"Awww....baby....you know I did it all for you honey? I mean....you had the surgery, and had to go through all those treatments. ...a woman has needs you know.
Gary next door is such a nice guy. I only did it to save our marriage. He was tender. It felt so natural.....ummmmm.....Gary.....umhh....that's it right there......yes.....thank you for doing this....oh...oh.....my husband should be normal in a year or two......ohhh...oh god.....yes.....ummmm Gary...please....right there....don't stop....oh...Gary....yes..please...yes....oh.....oh.....mmmmmmmmmm"
So you see baby.....I did it all for you!
On the assholiness meter I'm giving this a 10.

Pleeeeaase tell me they won't include the Wonder Twins if they do make that one.
Wonder Twin powers activate: form of a hamster, form of an ice cucumber; Gleek randomly tittering. Most. Annoying. "Super." Heros. Ever. :wallbash:
Maybe the reason I never got into any of these comic book movies.
The cartoons ruined most of these characters 40 years ago with schlock like that.

Rasmus gets PP time on every team in the league and QBs the #1 on at least 10 of them.
I think it's a high estimate, but the power-play has been good.
It hasn't been because of the left point.
I'll be honest.
I don't feel good posting again.
Sorry to disappoint.
Ristolainin, IS, your franchise defenseman.
Enjoy.
He's also 21.
No need to give him that label yet.
-
Most defenseman should be able to do that. We're so used to seeing slugs like Weber, Gorges and Franson, that anytime a D-man catches someone from behind, we're flabbergasted.
Rasmus is playing well, still room to improve... some of his decisions in the offensive zone seem a bit rushed... doesn't hold the puck very long. I'd like to see him use more patience and hang on to it a bit longer. That will come with experience.
I just don't see him as a PP guy either. Need a more offensively minded guy like TYSON BARRIE to QB the power play.
Did you see the play. He was beat and closed, and lifted. Nice play.

This remarkable man, whose voice painted vivid pictures of triumphs and defeats, became more than just a commentator to me, he probably had an outsized influence on my life . He became the companion of our autumns, winters, and springs, narrating the stories of personal journeys with passion and fervor. His crackle and rasp, were my second interior monologue in my head. When I say he has inspired me. I really mean I could hear his voice daily in my head.
I remember nights spent with my transistor under the blanket, and the white single earpiece cord. It was usually Ted Darling in the first and the third. RJ in the second. Then over time, it just became RJ.
First Period. For as long as I can remember. I win the Stanley Cup every morning. This may sound silly, but its what I do. I lift the Stanley Cup. Sometimes I even press the imaginary weigh of it over my head as I make my coffee. The voice was always the same. It was Rick - but always a little different. RJ would announce the captain handing me the cup for me to lift. - “And look at this, he’s one of US……there won’t be a dry eye in Western New York now…….X. Benedict is lifting the cup!!!” I am crying as I write this. For me RJ has always been the soundtrack of what is possible in my life. He has called every degree graduation, he has called every promotion, he has called my wedding. But it started much earlier, he called every goal of mine on the pond, every goal in the driveway, and every goal in life. He was my adopted inspiration voice. Perhaps he was yours too.
Second Period. One thing that made RJ unique, is that he always called the game in front of him. He wasn’t telling long stories. He wasn’t telling history. He always focused on the game and the detials in front of him. He always knew who was on the ice. He always let you know who was in the face-off circle, who had the puck, how much time was left. There were great calls, but for me that was never the lesson. RJ was a Hall of Famer because he called the game he was at. He was in the moment. Calling the detials of a 6-1 blowout were just as important to him as the details of a the 6-5 overtime thriller. He knew the history, but he avoided the temptation to narrate the what belonged to the players. Any locker room disfunction, any heartwarming stories, any gossip. He avoided this. Everything he called was in service of the world the game in front of him created. - I guess this has always inspired me. His discipline was to keep the players lives private, and to focus on the 20 minutes in front of him. Everyone can get distracted. RJ always focused on the call. The call was colorful enough. He let others add color. In the weirdest way - he was always the most colorful straight man. The emotion came from the game. I always thought I would be a better person by focusing on what was in front of me.
Third Period. I write this to you, friends. Because even though I left this forum and social media a few years back - RJ was some of the glue that made us a better community. I write this to you, simply because I know you will understand, and I have no one better in the world to communicate it to. I know you guys love the team, and I stopped by when I heard the news. There will be a disconnect with me. The voice I have stolen for my interior soundtrack, will now belong to a star in heaven, a voice in history, and not a living man. At least as long as I live, his voice will live in me. Perhaps you too. Be well friends. And my condolences. I’m sorry for OUR loss, and will miss him. We were blessed to have him.
Rest in peace, old friend. Rest in peace.
