  1. He was great in Slap Shot. "Dickie Dunn wrote this, it must be true!" Classic!

He was also the diving swim coach in "Back To School" with Rodney Dangerfield.

RIP Emmet Walsh. One great character actor for sure.

Administrative error.  I'm quite sure first star should have been JJP.

From Hamilton WGR: "The media in Los Angeles was so impressed with Tage Thompson and how he dominated every time he had the puck, they made him the first star of the game despite having no points. Thompson played 19:37 and had four shots on goal and 13 shot attempts."

Tage did play a physical game and had a lot of shots (mostly all misses), but its crazy JJP didn't get the first star.

Lastly, the one shot Tage had on the PowerPlay shattered Cam Talbot's goal stick on the top handle and it went flying to the back boards. It was quite a sight to see. Of course Buffalo went 0-4 on the PP☹️

Listen, I get it that everyone wants to burn this place down, but this is bullcrap.  Rob answered the bell every time and policed for his team for a long time. He was a valiant force and he did much more damage than he took for a team that needed him desperately. You can rag on his broadcasting chops, but this is a garbage take.

    Agree 100%.
plus Razor had Aprox 3200 PIM and played 900 games. Twist had 1,100 PIM in 445 games.

Funniest thing is after a long, long 30 years I’ve essentially come full-circle back to the “lunch pail, hard hat” mentality they used to use on tv when speaking about the Sabres in the 90s haha. It’s not really about being a descriptor of the particular skill sets you look for in players you want to roster: but rather it speaks to the honesty of the mindset. None of the disenfranchisement I spoke of up thread: a refusal to turn your nose up at “just” making the playoffs.

I freaking love Buffalo. I love THAT Buffalo.

Make the playoffs. Make me the f*cking GM.

Makes me long for the days of Jay McKee and Rhett Warrener. Both of those Defensemen could lay the hammer on opponents. This team needs more players like that.

I'm partially there on you. Although based on the general view on this forum, your post could be taken as sarcasm.

This season is probably lost. That sucks.

This team needs a big time, legit top 4 VETERAN D-man.  A legit 27-30 year old guy at the top of his game who has hundreds of games of experience and has seen it all. Not a vet that USED to be a top 4 guy. Not a vet who is really a 5/6 guy but you convince yourself is a top 4 guy. A Legit, quality, for sure top 4 guy.

Agree 100%. A player like Alex Pietrangelo of the Golden Knights is a perfect example. Not that he's coming to Buffalo, lord help us, but this type of player for sure.

  6. I read his biography. "Matthew Barnaby: Unfiltered". Good read, I enjoyed it. He absolutely loved Ted Nolan and would run thru a wall for him. He despised Dominik Hasek due to his selfishness, as did Rob Ray (Ray said so in his book: "Rayzors Edge"). Anyway, Barnaby has his demons, and its not pretty, but his time in the Goathead was unforgettable and I loved his passion for the team. That '99 Cup was ours gdammit!!

First game was at The Aud in 1980 with Bob Sauve between the pipes. My uncle had season tix for a long time. First row Red seats in corner near Player and Zamboni tunnel. I miss that place. The nachos, the cracker jack guy in the wheelchair out front, the tunnel ramps, the cigarette smoke filled halls, the Earl of Bud and of course the rink with the boards and glass that would just rattle like crazy after a big check. Good times!
