I'd like the two of you to immediately explore career options with Ernst & Young.
They should add an element of skill to the whole deal. Let Murray spin the wheel from The Price is Right. Gotta go once around of course. But he'd be able to at least try to finagle it.

You don't think that the guy who openly stated that the fans were going to have to deal with some suffering wasn't on board with tanking?
He also said near the end of the 2012-13 season, just before the suffering presser, that Terry would determine the extent of the rebuild. If Terry determined that over the summer, maybe it was more than Darcy expected when he said the following at the presser:
“You could go to the bottom of the League for five years and hope you land on a Crosby or a Malkin, or the franchise can find something “in between” tanking and rebuilding on the fly. It may require some suffering”
Darcy also talked about how the Kings rebuilt, by drafting high and then trading those players for established players.I'm still not sure why Darcy was fired. What did he do wrong? Or right? -
Everyone in the FO was on board with the tank / suffering. Darcy was fired because the concept of tanking on paper and the reality of witnessing the suckitude night after night are two totally different animals.
Why does Tim Murray still have a job then?
-
Has anyone seen or read any quotes from Darcy since he got run over by his own tank?
Don't think he's ever commented on his firing - or anything at all since that day.
Wait, what? Darcy got fired because he wanted to tank, and Terry didn't? Or he was tanking too much? Not enough? I guess I never really believed the tank was Darcy's idea, or that he was fired. I think the tank was too much for Darcy to stomach. Same for Lindy. And Millsie, Pommsie, Vansie and Ottsie.

YEAH he's been Jenner-ating chances
No, that was good.

Surprised to read that the Aud ice was 195 feet long that first season. Typo? I don't know why it would have been shorter in subsequent years as the only renovation after the first season was to raise the roof and add the oranges.

I'm missing something, It usually takes me a while to decipher Yuri's sayings, I thought I understood this one, and it was a positive thing. But then NS had this and I'm once again needing a translation....
"Three balls in the lottery." Urban Dictionary is your friend.

My linear algebra professor pronounces "choose" as "chooch". Wait, maybe this belongs in the awesome thread.
Did you notice how Ted Darling pronounced "schedule" in that film?

Went to 716 for lunch today, absolutely no wait. The food was pretty good and Enroth came in for lunch.
For the CHLers, I tried to have a double expresso latte delivered to him, but my wife stopped me.

Who would PayPal anyone for creating that site?

Mini-Ditka?
Shut up. I was in the pool.

The Blues are only 11 points out of eighth place. Sabres could still end up with three balls in the lottery!

Brian WIlliams. Always figured he was an asshat of the highest order, given some of his celebrity performances that don't befit a news anchor. The scandal only confirms it. How can one possibly "misremember" being shot down in a helicopter?
-
Sorry to burst your bubble. I'm not a sexy cross dressing trucker.
You deny the cross dressing then? So you are a trucker?

There were many references to Punch's "luck." Back story?
-
Leaf fan makes a good parody and I gotta say I feel his pain.
I see the nipples on his hockey soul.
-
Not sure why he'd be there when Punch isn't, but that mystery man does have a passing resemblance to Sam Pollock - long time Habs GM.
It's not Sam. It might be a member of the Sabres board of directors or someone from the Common Council or something. Wait, who was the Erie County Exec. in 1970?
Edit: nope.

And this: if you check out the film starting at about 28:55, you'll see video of the puck drop. It confirms that it's Campbell in the back. And the dude on the far left has to be Molson, because there are only six men out there besides the captains, and we know who everyone else is, except one, and that's not Molson. But. Who. The. . Is. He?
-
OK. Thanks to chz's find of the old film from 1970, maybe we finally have a break here. I don't know about the rest of you, but I've been putting in quite a few hours most nights trying to nail this down. The film says David Molson, president of the Canadiens, took part in the ceremony. Is the man on the far left David Molson?
-
I beseech all not to miss this film. Oh my goodness. 17:22. You will laugh. Guaranteed!
-
No kidding. Wow.
It was a mutton chop joke.

Tallon, T-A-L-O-N. Deadmarsh, D-E-D...
I love this film. Buncha Canadian boobs, really. Campbell couldn't even read the freakin' wheel right. And that smarmy Stafford Smythe, you're gonna get yours baby.

haha yeah, even then they were trying to screw us. I'd bring back that wheel. I would honestly accept the result of a spin as fair. As long as a little girl with measles holding a sick puppy spun the wheel.
This could be fun, too. Go full carnival. Guess Hitchcock's weight.
