  1. Past hour
  2. Will Salt Lake City have a new team name?
  3. Like, there's mild mannered. There's Clark Kent. And then way over on the mild end of the mild/spicy spectrum, there's Power (at least, Power as captured in that IG post).
  4. For reasons I can't quite explain, I found this locker cleanout post on IG to be hilarious.
  5. The vision is there with power, Dahlin took few years to get more physical as well. He will get there.
  6. Interesting point. I don't know the details, but it seems like the Meruelo deal is kind of like what happened to the Cleveland Browns... the team moved, but the franchise was deactivated and stayed in Cleveland. The old team was assigned to a new franchise, the Baltimore Ravens. So when the Browns started up again in Cleveland, all the franchise records stayed with them.
  7. Today
  8. Whenever I watch other teams play I always try to make comparisons to the Sabres. Last night the Bruins played essentially 19 minutes of the third period with a one goal lead. I'm pretty sure they iced the puck only twice. As much as I despise the Bruins (mostly because of where I live) they seem to very rarely make dumb mistakes. Again .... contrast.
  9. There are so many “I forgot that guy played for us” names on that list. It’s no surprise that they pretty much all sync up with the last 13 years.
  10. I wonder if they’ll give the Jets history back to Winnipeg.
  11. maybe? idk. it could also be fascinating, if done correctly.
  12. Matt and Marty are Kevin’s guys. He’s protecting them for sure. One would think someone of Ruff’s stature would control the rest. I wonder if Doug Houda might make a reappearance. They worked together in Long Island, and Ruff coached Dougie for a couple seasons. Linked is a list from ‘23. It’s neat to see so many familiar names still in the game. https://www.diebytheblade.com/where-are-they-now-buffalo-sabres-nhl-alumni/
  13. Yeah it seems odd that the NHL let him keep the Coyotes name and logo, and I believe also he has franchise rights in Arizona for the next 5 years if there's an expansion. If he was so awful, why nut just cut ties with him altogether? The only think I can think of is that by offering those things agreed not to fight the sale.
  14. How many different owners did that organization have in Arizona?
  15. I get the feeling that it would put you to sleep. And that’s not to mock the guy, I’d take that life any day.
  16. It’s too bad that it was pre-internet. I’d be curious to see what the first thread with that title looked like.
  17. It’s not just first period. It’s readiness in general. I said this in the Oct 17th GDT against Tampa: From the outside looking in, I will say I think Granato made a mistake with his handling/allocating the preseason games. The Sabres gave too many games to rookies and too few games getting the top lines together. The organization is too far along in the rebuild to give this much ice time to evaluating rookies. I don’t see this being an issue under Ruff. I will be shocked if the preseason roster isn’t a much shorter list this season.
  18. 100%. If anyone is interested in understanding how hockey in the desert really fell apart, read these, especially the first one. ***** ownership from minute one. If you had any shred of thinking that the municipalities or the arenas or the fans or the sponsors were to blame for the final death knell, get corrected. Meruelo's squad ran a toxic and inept organization that ruined employee, partnering company, sponsorship, hockey management, player, media, and government relationships. https://theathletic.com/2390146/2021/02/16/arizona-coyotes-investigation-toxic/ https://theathletic.com/5439189/2024/04/24/arizona-coyotes-alex-meruelo-utah-nhl/ 12ft.io
  19. Yes. Lindy looks at the little things that add up. Win face-offs and you have the puck more. Have a true shut down line to protect leads. Have an enforcer to prevent your stars from doing that role. I commented last year on Lindy's Devils. They played us fast and open to start and their skill overwhelmed our at the time bad team defense. They took a 3 goal lead in the first. The a 4 goal lead in the second. Halfway through the second he had them shut everything down and bottled up the neutral zone. They score twice more by capitalizing on our inability to pierce their defensive shell. He basically had them play two styles and they won easily. Meanwhile Granato was teaching offense and saving defense for the next season. Ruff, and most coaches, start with defensive responsibility as the core of the system. But he knows he has a few guns and some wheels to work with. The players will have a lot to learn before the season opener. I hope he brings in all new assistants.
  20. Homemade garlic bread: - Any baguette-type long roll is fine. Cut it in half longwise like you're making a sub sandwich. - Apply a decent amount of olive oil with a tablespoon to each half of the roll (i.e. several spoonfulls) - Sprinkle lightly with parsley, oregano and minced garlic - Bake in oven or toaster oven at 325 for 7 min or so until it browns - Add some shredded cheese and bake for another 4-5 min
  21. Absolutely, but the players who avoid the front of the net like it’s a quarantine zone will find their ice time significantly reduced
  22. I’m driving through a Costco parking lot right by the front entrance. This guy wearing obnoxiously large headphones no look walks out in front of my car, tapping away at his phone. Really, it’s no big deal, I’m paying attention and I full expect to stop in front of stores. This douche then proceeds to stop right in front of my car in the middle of the crosswalk and continues to tap away on the phone. I have so little hope for the future of mankind.
  23. No doubt players like Thompson and Cozens had bad years. I don't think it will happen again to this same extent, I expect them both to be back. The bottom six does not contribute enough. They don't bring any of the intangibles you want from lines that score less. As you said 5 or 6 forwards need to be replaced.
  24. I'm sure it's because Lindy has yet to sink his teeth into the current lineup. Give him time.
