  1. Past hour
  2. The Colorado Mammoth are a National Lacrosse League team, they played Buffalo for the championship last season.
  3. Agreed. The very best: 1. RJ 2. Bob Cole 3. Danny Gallivan Some other thoughts: Some real oldtimers will say Foster Hewitt is the best. I was too young to have heard him live, but on record, I don't think he holds up to the 3 in the list. Hate the Leafs, but I'll give Joe Bowen props for his homer Leafs broadcast. He's no RJ, but Leaf fans should be thankful to have him. Watching the Campbell hit clips the other day triggered a thought... Once/if we ever get good again, I worry that the hype around the team might never get back to the way it was with RJ. He was part of what made watching the games so good. I question if the hype can be the same without him... Especially with Dud-leavy.
  4. The obvious name is the Utah Buzz; it fits with the bee theme and aligns with the NBA Utah Jazz name.
  5. I put Bob Cole and RJ on my hockey play by play Mount Rushmore. Cole and Harry Neale were a fantastic pair. RIP Mr Cole
  6. Here's my twist. Melt butter in a large fry non stick pan, saute garlic in that butter, then sprinkle a generous amount of shaved Parm into that bubbling butter. Once it starts to melt put your bread down so the cheese etc sear into it. Finish by toasting in the oven.
  7. I was impressed with how well he held up physically. Normally you would expect an 18yo to hit a wall at some point during the season. He may have had a bit of a scoring slump, but effort level was very consistent.
  8. There’s a distinction not everyone seems interested in making between what we think is *likely* to happen, and the steps we’d take to accentuate the roster if given the chance in a professional setting. If I was building a team in ea sports nhl yes I definitely have Benson in my top 6 as his “potential” rating is a lock to increase his overall stats! this year. But if I’m the GM of a professional hockey team with paying customers that needs to make the playoffs, im doing way more if we deal some prospect / pick assets and are left with an extra top 6 F that skates on the third line, I assure you this is a good problem to have, and nothing at all in the universe of being prohibitive to doing so/making that deal
  9. What if he gets an offer sheet of 4.2 Million for 4 years? In return we would only get a second round pick. Would you match? I would have to say yes. There are some desperate teams out there. It might happen.
  10. I've seen Mammoth as a possibility. I've warmed up to that name. No elephant mascots in any pro sports right now. But yeah, those other names stink.
  11. No matter how much we compare relatively, none of those comps yield a team that garnered a playoff berth. Peterka had a very good year, yes, on a team that lacked scoring and finished 22nd. It’s not even close to a guarantee we DO get JJ production from Benson next year. I’m definitely not putting it past Benson to do it, I wouldn’t even be shocked if he did better. I wouldn’t even be shocked if he had 80 points. I also wouldn’t be shocked if he had another 40. Why chance it when we are sitting on an (abundant) pool of tradeable pick and prospect assets? Add another top 6 forward if you can, so that we aren’t COUNTING on a 19 year old sophomore to do it how serious do we want to be about making the playoffs
  12. I did notice this right away. I wondered if it was his way of saying Sabres needed that added to the roster (which they do) or if it was just a coincidence because they are local media guys and he's probably friends with both of them. Could just be a coincidence due to that. Dakota Joshua likely gets re-signed by Vancouver but I'd make him an offer. Liam O'Brien is a bargain basement tough guy. Not a particularly good tough guy but tougher than anything on our roster. William Carrier would be good. Max Domi's a bit of a risk as no team seems to like him long term but he's a definite rat if you want one of those on your bottom unit. The best plan would probably be via a trade. Most of the good tough guys are signed right now. Give up some talent for the toughness we need and preferrably get a guy who can actually play a little and not be a liability.
  13. Can I ask why? he had 11g, 19a compared to JJP with 12g, 20a in his rookie year and JJP was in the top 6 in year two and flourished.
  14. Because PR videos don’t determine the captain full disclosure I’m sort of growing tired of their media team filtering literally everything through the perspective of Alex Tuch. He’s not the beacon of the fan base lol Nahhhhh
  15. There are two announcing GOATS: RJ, and Bob Cole. We’ve now sadly lost both. The game will not be the same
  16. Or he was the only guy around because the season is over and Dahlin has already gone home to Sweden.
  17. This is the regime that drafted Peterka by, as mentioned, a smart trade to move up the draft board. This regime also drafted Quinn, who outside of injuries, has been a very good offensive player (he did have a horrible outing in Detroit....) They also drafted Benson and a number of other guys who appear to have bright futures. I don't see the Adams administration as the total fail that many on this board do. They've put together a talented team that's in the middle of the pack and should, with the right coach (Lindy?) make the leap to the upper half of the league. I think that they will pick up some grit in the offseason by acquiring a couple of new players and I think that Lindy will help inject some grit into some of the existing players. I don't think a complete overhaul is needed. They are moving in the right direction and with good NHL coaching (Lindy?) and a few roster tweaks, I think that we Sabres fans will be happy next year when the team ends the playoff drought. And that's probably without significant contributions from future players such as Savoie, Kulich, Rosen, Neuchev, Wahlberg, Östlund, etc. who are further down the line. I will fully admit that I said the same thing last year, but I really believed in Granato, and as much as I like him and supported him, he lost me with the 2 late Detroit losses and the Ottawa embarrassment. I just don't see those types of performances in critical games happening with Lindy behind the bench. The team will, at a minimum, be ready to play both in a) the October-November-December portion of the season; and b) the first period of games. I've made these same comments in other threads.
  18. These are the things I hope Lindy manages to bring to the Sabres. Discipline, attention to details, positional play and role play, defensive responsibility, team play. A unified force rather than a bunch of talented individuals running around all over the place at times.
  19. Good thread I agree with the sentiment of both Liger’s and GA’s posts, tbh. Benson was certainly great relatively (to other Sabres, to rookies in general), and yes, the former part of that relatively is damning regarding the roster we iced this season. Of course, none of that reflects poorly on Benson who was nothing but a bright spot. No, they shouldn’t game plan on Benson routinely skating in the T-6 next season
  20. Man, those are some lame names. Utah being the Beehive State seems like it would offer some interesting options.
  21. and then he'd swiftly move them to Mississauga.
  22. All the shots of Tuch in this Sabres produced video, how can it not be Tuch?
