Just call me Nostradamus. Told ya injuries would be this year's excuse before the season even started. -
Almost time to think about Gavin McKenna?
PerreaultForever replied to Crusader1969's topic in The Aud Club
Matt Tkachuk. Only bigger. Definitely not Tuch. A little like Martone maybe. I know the skating critique and a lot of the bigger guys get that critique. It's an over rated stat imo. It's not like he's a bad skater, just not the best. Lots of guys who people said didn't skate well enough make it big. Look at Geekie on the Bruins. People said he'd never be more than a 4th liner due to poor skating. Last time I checked he was tied for most goals in the league. They adapt. -
You think it was right to offer the coach of the year a one year probationary deal? Seriously? After that debacle they brought him in as a sacrificial lamb. He never had a chance. Murray had to trade away every goalie because he still won too many games. They did not do right by him at all.
-
Not everyone. Playing to lose makes you a loser. You donāt tank for Clayton Keller.
-
They need to give Adams a deadline to make a decision on whether or not he wants to extend Tuch in Buffalo, although I have a feeling he is leaning towards joining another organization. Losing him for nothing July 1st is not an option.

Matthews and Stolarz both injured in loss to Bruins. Leafs might be challenging Sabres at the bottom this season. -
The issue with McKenna, which I brought up a few months ago, was my concern that he wouldn't produce at a high level in NCAA hockey against 22, 23, 24 year olds. Still think he'll be an excellent pro, but he's not in McDavid's class.... or Celebrini. I see more of a Clayton Keller watching him play.

The Menu was a good flick. Not eating smores again though. -
Savoie doesn't play the type of hockey we should want to play.

Jiri Kulich to miss significant time with blood clots
Wyldnwoody44 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
It's shocking really how many side effects there are with many common meds. As an internist, you know more than most -
Seems like a lot of freak stuff going on... Norris hurts himself on a faceoff without being touched for the first time in hockey history. Zucker gets some freak virus where he can't eat solid food for over a week and loses a ton of weight. Kulich gets blood clots which is something very rare for someone his age Dahlin's leave if absence is him having to be with a fiance that had to have a freak heart transplant Greenway was recovering from an injury suffered last year

Some random thoughts During my Emergency Medicine Rotations, I had an attending who liked to talk about rare conditions and one of them was Commotio cordis, where a sudden blow to the chest at the wrong moment can cause cardiac arrest. My attending had seen a case of the month before when a teenage pitcher took a line drive in the chest causing cardiac arrest. There is another condition called prolonged QT syndrome where the electrical cycle of the heart takes longer to reset. It can be completely asymptomatic.Females and certain ethnic groups such as Eastern Asians are more predisposed to this condition. It is hereditary, but one needs to know their family history. There are certain medications which can also cause a prolongation of the QT Interval. One of these classes of medications is macrolides which are antibiotics, azitromycin ( Z PAK). When someone with undiagnosed prolonged QT Syndrome takes a Z Pack there is the risk of Torsades de pointes a cardiac arrhythmia which can lead to cardiac arrest. -

Glass half full would say we must be better this year then because we are still around the same with all these issues. However close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
-
Yes he was certainly over-played but as a 3rd liner he was a fine player. We just put him on the Top line. Also Pommers did well 1-20 and 60-82 approximately while he didnāt exist 21 to 59

Ruff on 'GR this morning: Zucker hasn't eaten solid food in 9 days!

My niece's daughter who was 13 years old had her schoolmate and best friend pass away from contracting viral meningitis. I'm not saying this to be morbid or dramatic but, as you are doing, pointing out how serious this illness can be. You never know when you can be facing unexpected misfortune. -
Sounds like heās getting tips from my wife
-
Striking that amidst the cavalcade of shite we are on pace for about the same about points as we did every other year under Adams. Really says something about his performance the years we didnāt suffer an ungodly amount of injuries 78 point GM on average, rain sleet or shine

Most viruses are treated with supportive care and in some cases as evidenced by Zucker take longer to get over. For example EBV or Epstein Barr Virus which causes mono can be prolonged and present with nausea and vomiting I rotated with one of the Sabres Team Doctors for 4 years during residency. They have same day access to any specialist, imaging study or lab work that maybe required. Weekends and Holidays included. When McKee had His Infection, one of the team physicians and a ID Doc stopped by his house everyday to check on his progress, as slow as it was. -
is that bad?
-
He'd only be good for one night and dissappear the rest of the season.

Considering the amount of time key players are going to be out, this season is doomed. -

So many questions. From my career doing process improvement and problem solving analysis, I want the data to try to answer the "why". Anytime there's an outlier, there's typically a special cause, not random variation. Might not be enough data to determine that though. -

I did not see this turn. Iām all for thinning out the herd as long as my kid isnāt one of the culled. Too many morons breathing the air on this flying ball of dirt. With the overgrown populations in third world countries, itās only a matter of time before some awful version of a communicable disease is thrust upon us where we lose half the worldās population. And dont even get me started with the weather phenomenonās weāve bees seeing the last decade. Mama Earth is coming for us. Probably soon rather than later. Iāve had a good run.
