  1. Past hour
  2. Going for it on 4th and 2 at midfield in the first quarter was a terrible decision by the Bills. Way too early in the game to take that kind of risk — flip the field, trust your defense, and play smart football.
  3. Worthy pounded the Bills on that run...and lets keep running when its working.
  4. Today
  5. This is a great Ted talk about how and why athletes do better over time. I can’t help but think it might apply here, though I totally admit I have no evidence. We all know that goalie equipment got way better from the early 1980’s when Bob Sauve was playing. That made goalies better by the 90’s. Just wonder if the sticks shooters are using have also taken a recent bigger step forward. I know they have gotten better in the past but has there been a recent step forward in stick technology? On top of that, has training in shooting improved? I know baseball players have programs for biomechanics that improve them, hockey players surely must also
  6. He can't abandon his kids! 😭 UPL wasn't awful. 🙄
  7. He might be calling them Bich
  8. Now that we are into the season, which prospects do you consider future NHL players. I think this is a pretty good list of who in our system has a chance (some more than others) of becoming an everyday NHL player. That said, who do you think will actually make it. I'm feeling better about Rosen and Levi. Mrtka looks like a future star, and I like Kozak as a long-term depth NHLer. Anyone else? Goalies? Levi, Ratzlaff, Leenders, Leinonen Defense? Mrtka, Novikiov, Komarov, Strbak, Kleber, Osburn. McCarthy, Bedkowski? Forwards? Kozak, Rosen, Östlund, Helenius, Wahlberg, Zeimer, Neuchev. Richard
  9. He said he wants to stay and the Front Office said he is the number 1 priority but we will see what happens. He is not a SS anymore his D isn’t good enough. He would be perfect at 2B with Gimenez at SS. If he is dead set on being a SS I think it limits his suitors big time. World Class bat.
  10. In a thread about goalies sucking, this is the greatest typo of all time. But yeah, you’re dead on. This isn’t new. The dead puck era died a long time ago.
  11. Any idea what Bichette might be thinking? I think teams might be lining up to make offers.
  12. I think he is trying to say if the Sabres win 5 out of every 9 games they play, they'll have 45 wins. That should be more than enough to make the playoffs. The Sabres have won 5 of the last night, but only 5 of 12 for the season.
  13. I recall only one knee hit and I thought the other gut did it to Greenway. When you are tall its easy to look like you are targeting someone's head. The replay on the head hit showed nothing that indicates it was intentional, the other player was leaning forward to follow through on his pass. Lucky no one was injured but that's hockey and the Sabres have been on the wrong end of those plays way too often in the recent past. Greenway is not known as a dirty player.
  14. Leenders off to a huge start for Jay McKee’s Brantford team who is the top team in the entire CHL. McKee really talked him up on Sabres Live the other day, comparing him to Ryan Miller https://chl.ca/ohl-bulldogs/players/8732/
  15. Ahhh the classic argument around here by I forget who about how Drew Stafford has 0 goals in games where he doesn’t score a goal.
  16. Rogers have as much money as anyone and committed to Vladdy. I wouldn’t think players just leave as free agents. Rogers will spend.
  17. Yamamoto deserves his accolades, for sure. Let's not forget Kirk among the young new stars. Team will be good for a while until players become FAs.
  18. The Sabres have average 2.00 points per game played (PPGP) in their five victories. That's more than a playoff pace.
  19. I hope they don’t adapt at all. It’s already a farce with the over-sized equipment they get away with.
  20. The narrative before the Series was “David vs Goliath” and Jays were huge underdogs. Jays took it to them all series and were the better team but they didn’t execute at the end of the series with numerous chances to win it. Yamamoto was the MVP for sure. Jays found some new stars in Clement, Barger and Yesavage. Heartbreaking loss. The baseball Gods got it wrong this year but oh well.
  21. Potential injuries to Benson have far less to do with his age and size than it does with his style of play. Players who always press the action like he does are putting themselves in more situations to get hurt, regardless of size. He gets hurt less than an older big guy like Greenway does, that’s for sure.
  22. Yeah, I feel ya. I mean, I want him in there over Bryson or Johnson or any other -son in the depth pool, but I see a guy who doesn't make mistakes but also doesn't make impactful plays. That might simply be him learning the system and as he gets used to the flow, the impactful plays will come. The last couple games were his training camp.
  23. I thought Tage looked better last night. Maybe leave him at center until Norris returns. I don't think Tage is necessarily better at center than wing or vice versa. But I think shifting from one to the other when he's scuffling gives him a boost.
  24. Last night was HFC night, and one of the Sabres "Gold Ring Partners" is Roswell Park. That game will always be a good draw because Roswell makes sure of it. (There was one just before Covid (pretty sure the season Covid hit, maybe the year before) that only had about 13,000 fans at; my understanding is Roswell was quite upset about it and every HFC Night since has been very well attended.) As mentioned upthread, last night was a combo of HFC, Saturday night, a (nearly?) final chance to see Ovi, and them playing well at home.
