  1. Past hour
  2. I remember 2 good and 1 bad play from him. The first good was he won a battle and cut into the middle of the ice and made a nice outlet pass. The second was on the point for the PP, I thought he had good movement and deception. The one bad play he went in stick first and lost the battle in his own zone, felt like a really weak attempt at puck retrieval.
  3. I am not worried about roster spots. Rotation could be an issue because they never seem to manage it right. Yes the defense is playing well. For the most part they have all season. We just have not been converting chances in a number of games. Last night we did. I was doing a dive into the 22-23 Sabres season and how important scoring was given the crap defense they had on the ice that year. I will do it in another thread.
  4. Easy now. In my experience, McDermott uses that phrase -- "it's hard to win in the NFL" -- as a mantra. It's conspicuous and notable. Which is why it wound up rooted in my brain.** ** A brain that sits in a head over which you launch your jokes, evidently.
  5. Reading through pages of posts this morning has me wondering if Owen Power played last night? There’s usually a handful of criticisms and complaints about him.
  6. I mean McDavid was invisible against us when we played the Oilers, but apparently OP thinks every great player has great games every night. Some people are so miserable, they have to find things to complain about.
  7. Why would the Jets take the Sabres lightly at home where they usually play well? As you point out in this game, th Sabres thoroughly outsmarted the Jets and simply were the decisively better team. What I found most impressive about Norris was his speed. And he has nifty hands. My preference is to have Tage playing center. Move Tuch to the first line wing with Tage or Norris moved to the other line.
  8. Who, in this thread, is discussing the University of Pittsburgh (I mean besides you)?
  9. The Sabres don't have a problem at goalie. All three are competent, but not great. The problem is that goaltending is occupying too many roster spots. The solution is not necessarily outscoring the problem; it's just playing better defense. The Sabres didn't allow only one goal because UPL stood on his head; it was because they played a more responsible defensive game in front of him.
  10. Today
  11. Sure unless you are in a sports forum where multiple teams and sports are being discussed.
  12. Another very solid game in all areas! We're starting to play with a chip on our shoulders and stand up for one another, which is a sure sign that the team is growing together!
  13. Scoring 4 or more goals is the key to winning in this edition of the NHL. It may not seem like we needed it because we only gave up one goal but the early lead helps settle everything down and play a structured game. We have only won 2 games when we did not score 4 goals so far this year. Every loss we have we have scored less than 4. Goaltending is so random these days you just don't know who is good or bad. Lets look at the former Sabres goaltenders. Devin Cooley 10-3-2-2 1.88 .930 Eric Comrie 10-5-5-0 3.13 .893 Linus Ullmark 19-9-6-4 3.10 .874 Did Devin Cooley a 28 year old rookie become a great goaltender? Did Ullmark turn into a pumpkin with that 8.25 million dollar salary? We are not going to trade UPL unless we know we have someone way better to replace him with. The answer is outscoring the problem.
  14. University of Pittsburgh is called Pitt because Pitt is an abbreviation for Pittsburgh. It is a valid abbreviation for the city's name.
  15. The Krebs hit is part of that swarming/speed game. It comes with the territory. But.... unlike being an isolated incident, the rest of the team is now jumping to each other's defense, another part of that swarming style. Well right now they have none, so...
  16. This is what happens when you get destroyed by last place teams.
  17. Agree. A lot will depend on Ruff and the Coaches. Gotta send them out alert and focused, playing fast and shooting from the puck drop. Match up changes will have to be quick and Special Teams will need to Score and Stop goals. Will be a great test for us. Really looking forward to it.
  18. Please don't tell me their playoff standing or I'll drive to your home and shoot out your porch light.
  19. https://nypost.com/2025/11/27/us-news/kipekee-ultra-rare-spotless-giraffe-dies-at-2-years-old-sparking-zoo-mystery/ This has me feeling so incredibly sad, RIP Kipekee😢
  20. Hmmm........... Well it's obvious the Jets did not come prepared to compete. I'm not sure they took the Sabres too lightly or were just too slow (maybe both) but they did get embarrassed. On the other side, that is how the Sabres have to play. Has to be all about speed and swarming with that speed and it was. You can win hockey games that way. Norris? Well, how many games do we get? I guess that's the question. Nobody ever doubted his talent and it was on display. There's no real negatives (although Krebs was probably lucky or smart enough not to get killed :)). There were some mistakes similar to other games but they can survive those with team speed so they weren't costly or overly noticeable. idk, this keeps up Adams will keep his job and say see, this was the plan all along.
  21. Another nice game at home. UPL wasn’t challenged and that’s a good thing. Great initial game by Norris. Just imagine if he can stay healthy. The Sabres are now 9-5-2 at home. They are sadly 2-6-2 on the road. 11 of the next 14 games are on the road, including the next 6 straight. If they want to prove that they are more than the same old crappy team, winning 4 of the next 6 road games would go along way to proving that it may be different this time. Maybe. It was nice to watch a full game where the Sabres were the best team on ice from the opening puck drop.
  22. Maybe if we get on a winning streak our GM can trade for a good player who doesn’t like palm trees and likes paying taxes
  23. After tonight's game... Norris is on pace for 87 points. The goaltending save% for the season isn't great, but it is consistent: Luukkonen .899, Lyon .899, Ellis .897.
  24. I don’t doubt that one bit. It’s just interesting to see the shine come off a bit after making a move for the paycheck. That said, he still has plenty of time to get it back.
