Agree on Krebs. And Malenstyn has been solid as well in his role. Kozak makes that a quintessential NHL 4th line imo.

13 out of 24 is 6 points over a .500 in season. Since 2010 no teams playing in a full NHL season has made the playoffs with that percentage. But technically it’s .500+ percentage points so it has some kind of feel good factor to some people. 5-4-3 pace over 82 games put you with teams that are 5-8 pave over 82, your watching the playoffs but with a higher draft pick.

Yeah, I felt he would be an NHLer this year; he's proven he is in my mind. Since he's been out Krebs has done well centering the 4th line. I think the depth they've called upon from Rochester at the very least hasn't hurt them and often helps them.

I will never understand why we always have to have this winning percentage argument. All I know is that I sure am glad the Sabres went 3-0-3 over the last 6 instead of 4-2-0.

Actually Rosen looked quite good. He was involved in the play and went to the net often. Greenway introduced himself to half of the Caps. 😂 Watching Ovi, especially on the power play, he's a total slug. The reason the Sabres were able to clear the zone on his point was because he barely tried to stop the puck. Ovi only exerts himself when he's getting in position for a one-timer.

In conversation, it's kind of a verbal tick that Rayzor has. Other announcer: "The team played well this period." Rayzor: "No, you're right." I think he doesn't do it as much as he used to, but he earned that meme. And yet here you are, dying on it.

I will say this: Even in the sequences where they were fighting it and the Caps were carrying the play, they were a lot harder to play against than in years past. Better positioning, better sticks on the lanes, more determination on loose pucks and even if they lost them, being disruptive enough that Washington had trouble doing anything with the puck.

Really lucky they got it to the shootout. The OT was horrible. So passive for the most part. No idea what they were trying to do there but they escaped it. Shoot out UPL raises his stock again? idk. Most interesting thing to me was Greenway. What exactly was that core surgery? Bionics? Knee on knee hits (twice) last game. Head shot this game. Decked Wilson and fought Wilson to a draw. This is the Greenway we hoped to get when they made the trade but it wasn't the Greenway we had before. I don't know what's changed here but he's changed and it adds a needed component, even if some of the hits were pretty dirty. It's just interesting to me how the team might actually be getting tougher and more normal compared to other teams. I didn't expect that this year with this roster. Rosen was okay. Those young guys have speed and skill. See how it develops going forward. It's good to win.

Really happy about the win but can we please, PLEASE figure out the power play and what to do 3-on-3? I'm assuming it's all Appert's department and it is an embarrassment. If they could get decent in those situations they just might be a pretty damn good team.

I said six teams are under "NHL .500". This is an important distinction because NHL .500 is a fabricated term that tries to combine two different systems: W/L and loser points that impact points percentage. They're not the same units of measure. True .500 = W/L. How many have they won? 5. How many have they lost? 7. That's it. That's what .500 is. NHL .500 is a fabrication that allows GMs/coaches/fans to ignore losses if they choose. It's useless. Like I said: Six of 32 teams are below NHL .500.

Totally! Hopefully, as they win more games like tonight's, where in previous seasons they'd, likely lose, they start to believe in themselves AND in each other. That belief will begin to show up in their game, which will help build momentum, which will lead to the consistency/tenacity/drive which, ultimately, will lead to breaking this God-awful playoff drought
