Its been about a decade now, but I could swear on the talk shows out of toronto, the same people walk talk about the Sabres tanking and say it was embarrassing, they should be punished (draft picks taken away, etc), and yet the very next year, would heap praise on Toronto for doing it to get matthews, saying how smart of an organization they were.

For me, the draw is the suspense of not knowing what the beer is going to taste like until close to a month after you put the work in. It's like a kid waiting for Christmas. Sorry, I was really not intending my post as a criticism but more of an observation and certainly not meant to get you to respond like that. It's all good with me if you used a thread to post your own collection of thoughts. It's all good with me if you respond in multiple threads. I accept the difference you were referencing. My story is much like Weave's. I started with buckets in my townhouse about 25 years ago. Gradually worked my way up to a 30 gallon stainless, propane system with a 15G conical. Had the conical on a stand in a freezer with a temp control that would either kick in the freezer or engage an electric heat wrap as needed. Buddy and I went our separate ways and I assembled another 20G system at my house. I don't have the conical. It has sat there for years because I just don't have the time and frankly there is beer everywhere now and I can find something to drink. I still have a 3-4 tap kegerator sitting here as well but nothing in it. I'm trying to sell all of it.. not sure I will ever go back to brewing and if I did I would convert to electric. Either I'd drill into the stainless and put in heating that way or use conduction but on 30G that's a tough call. I brewed a ton of beer, enjoyed the hell out of it. Gave a ton away. Toyed with jumping into the brew business but couldn't take the financial risk at the time. I had some of the top brewers in the area giving my beer compliments so I felt like I was doing okay (they weren't just being nice, they would critique and did on some less good batches). It's a great hobby and I still sometimes wish I had the desire to do it more just so I can make some things you never find but the time and desire just isn't there any more. I think the league is seeing what TP obviously is insulated from the abject visceral disdain the fan base has for him and his FO and the abject nonpluss they have for us. People are voting with their feet currently and it will get worse as the situation continues to the point our area will look like the Cleveland Barron's arena in the 70s... this clearly is bad for league revenue. The question is what will they do about it. They could try and force a move... they could put pressure for a new FO... put some kind of a control board in place 😆 lol but I think anything they do will be about organization and not league wide competition aka nmc's

15gal! Wow... no way I could drink that much beer, but it would be fun to make. I could see how having convenient beer on tap all the time would cause a weight gain though. I have a 5 gallon pot I bought for boiling corn, so my batch size will be limited by that. My first batch was 2 gallons, this next batch is 3. The American Wheat will be up closer to 5 as I'll mash it out stronger, then water it down during cooling to get more volume. The hard part will be bottling as I've only got 3gal worth of bottles now. I was considering buying some cheap used growlers. Would I have to buy new caps for them or are the caps reusable?

I also think the new directive of “we need to be tougher to play against” hasn’t fully been accomplished yet yes Kesserling, Doan, Danforth , and Timmins all play the right and will be extremely harder to play against, but we still are missing that truly mean element they have added it to the Amerks in spades but haven’t really done it yet for the Sabres I wonder about a guy like Brendan Smith, has played for Lindy in the past But truly add like a player like Neighbors would just complete the offseason from not only a good addition but accomplishing there goal. I don’t think Neighbors is available but someone like him. McTavish maybe, and other than that I don’t know who would be available? Any one older who plays that kinda game tends to have a no move, like a Kadri So I’d be interested to see if anyone knows any additional names that maybe could be of interest?

One of the best hockey markets in the US is in big trouble and the problem 100% points to one person. That Shanahan rumor, if true, tells you exactly what the problem is with this team. Every off season is the same, we lose better players than we gain. No players in their prime will come here. I could rant about the past 14 years, but it’s useless I am not attending any hockey game in Buffalo this year for the first time EVER.

It was against the league’s interest for the team (and other teams) to tank like we did. They should have stepped in and saved the Sabres from themselves back then.
