  1. Past hour
  2. I don’t know about you but I would gladly take a loser point than lose in regulation and get nada.
  3. desperation, separation Condemnation, resignation In temptation, isolation. Let it go.
  4. If you got a loser point for every game of the season you would not be in the playoffs. Instead, you would be on the couch watching other teams playing in those post games.
  5. Yeah, Yahoo doesn't just drop the "wrong" player. That sounds like a 'PEBCAK' error...Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard. Try taking over an abandoned team which was seemingly drafted by Helen Keller who came to the keyboard wearing oven mitts and then seeing next to nothing available on the waiver wire to improve the squad. This is a dead team walking. I'm just hoping to win a game or two somewhere to spoil someone's season...but even that is looking like a stretch. I already spoiled JujFish's day so that's a start. πŸ˜‡
  6. Good to hear, I only saw what was on TV and what I saw didn't show the foot getting back on. Jays kinda pulled a "billsy" loss sadly. I'm happy I don't follow MLB as close as the NHL or NFL or else I would be devastated. All in all, it was a good series and very exciting baseball (a phrase I'm not sure I've ever said before) πŸ˜‚βšΎ
  7. I mean, if you got a loser point every game of the season, that might be good enough to get you in the playoffs. It's better than consolation.
  8. You are too calculating to believe that your partaking was inadvertent. 🀫
  9. I was saying they needed Barger stealing 2nd with the Kirk double play threat always there. I feel like they would have almost conceded the base with the threat of a missed throw scoring Vladdy.
  10. What we can't go through is extended losing streaks. Although getting losing points is frustrating it keeps us from more steeply descending. Those loser points don't necessarily raise us up but keeps us in the mix. Consolation is better than desolation.
  11. Yamamoto went 3-0 with a 1.02 ERA in the Fall Classic. He’s just the 14th pitcher to notch three wins in a single World Series and the first since Hall of Famer Randy Johnson did it for the Diamondbacks in 2001. He is the first pitcher with three road wins in a single World Series and just the fourth pitcher to win both Game 6 and Game 7, joining Johnson (2001), Harry Brecheen (1946) and Ray Kremer (1925). Unbelievable performance. Unfortunately I was there to see my team lose to Johnson in that game 7 in 2001. Devastating ride back home through the desert. My condolences.
  12. I'm starting to sense that you are a libertine fellow? I just want you to know that I am not judging. Although surprised, I'm open-minded. 🀫
  13. Tuch is 3 years older than Necas (as the most recent comparable for $11.5m), so it stands to reason that $11.5m AAV would be over 5 years and not 8. If you are forced to go to a higher AAV, so be it, but I thought the point is getting the most guaranteed money? The Tuch camp still needs to find $14.5m after age 35 if they want the equivalent contract of $9m*8, or $72m guaranteed (assuming that is what the Sabres have probably offered). I’d say it’s 30/70 whether injuries or regression prevents a $7m+ type contract in 2032. Even with a growing Cap.
  14. Think any apprehension by the team on OT is a byproduct of many years of failure and of the team playing too tight and worrying too much. Confidence is such a big part of any sport, and the team had lacked it for so long but slowly seem to be getting better. I do see big improvments which is nice. For sure harder to play against, and getting points they would have never got last year (or any other previous year).
  15. That would be 13 points out of possible 20. That would be a good pace and put us in the running.
  16. He seems more off to me this season. My sense is he is trying to do too much and is forcing the play instead of letting the game come to him. It seems to me he is working too hard to carry the team instead of just playing his game. Tage is another player who is trying to do too much and playing too much solo hockey. The injury to Norris hurt that line.
  17. Today
  18. I would take that action for sure. I highly doubt he hits 20 this year. Would be happy to be wrong though!
  19. As you noted, if there is anything to be encouraged about it is that our goal tending has been solid. I'm not going to put it at an upper tier level, but so far it has been at a level where it keeps us in the game. Both Kesserling and Timmons were added in the offseason. They upgraded the unit. (To me, Timmons is an unsung player who quietly and efficiently does his job.) And there is no question that Samuelsson and Power are improved, with Samuelsson making the biggest improvement. Dahlin is the best player on the unit. And it seems that he is pressing and trying to do too much. But from an overall standpoint this unit is playing better than in prior years. And I forgot to mention that Byram is also playing well. I preferred Kesserling paired with Power but he playing with Byram seem to be a compatible pair.
  20. Was bored thus watc hed Carolina and Boston...boy Carolina sure are soft (I think even softer then our beloved Sabres) and Joker is absolutely awful...amazing that the B's even play him. Gave away pucks numerous times and just looks terrible. I find it weird that the B's have ex=Sabres. Even stranger is that they are actually winning!
  21. I have seen lots of replays and stop action. The catchers foot came off, then he got it back on the plate in time for a force out at home. The call was correct. Replays verify he was out. Blue Jays had a great season. They had many chances to win it - needed one more out, one more hit, one more play, but they didn’t get it. Credit to the Dodgers for winning 2 in a row on the road, and they just seemed to rise up when needed.
  22. That would be part of the 8.5% that falls into the "other" bucket πŸ˜‰
  23. Yes -- my response to your initial comment was that if you only looked at last year you wouldn't see it as a big anomaly. But taken together, last year and this year have seen a really big jump beyond the existing trend. It won't compete with @matter2003's high danger data, but another thing to take into account: goalie gear restrictions. Hasek and Brodeur famously were rocking sweaters 4 sizes too big, etc. But since 2005-06 post-lockout, there have been multiple changes to goalie pad sizes and even an additional jersey regulation in 2018. Just like the other sports -- the Shield wants more offense.
  24. Kruger was all about low event hockey. I don't remember that but I believe it, I've tried to erase those yrs from my brain.
  25. I agree. The hockey just looks different. It’s way more watchable. Remember Kruger’s "gain the blue line with speed, stop, and pass the puck to someone behind you” scheme? He thought he was coaching soccer. So dumb.
  26. If that's for 5yrs or even 6, I'm not too horrified. If that's 8yrs... not a fan. Tuch has been playing much better of late and certainly deserves a raise.
  27. 5-2-3 in their last 10. Is a duplicate of that adequate?
