What’s crazy is thinking that 2 games in hand means something to the Sabres.

The Moneypuck simulator has the Sabres at around an 86% "deserve to win" rating. I've never seen a rating so high for an actual score that was so bad. I didn't watch the whole game but from the half I saw we looked really good. It's disheartening to get this kind of result.

I can't bring myself to root for losses but I am ok when they loose. Just one more loss closer to ka getting fired. Unfortunately it may take them loosing out the rest of the season for ka to get canned.

Moving Connor Timmins doesn't turn this team around though. Even without him and his worst games, this team isn't much different. The failures this year are about Dahlin morphing into a turnover machine (at least it seems like it), Byram getting top minutes but not being close enough to deserve them, Tuch's forchecking and backchecking disappearing to the point he is a liability without the puck, average-to-below average goaltending, McLeod taking a major step back (in terms of HIS play without the puck), a lot of injuires...and other things. Timmins to me is WAY down the list of problems this team has.

If you want to talk about dead weight then someone like Conor Timmons needs to be one of the main subjects of the conversation, not nearly as much UPL, Greenway, or Byram do. Trading Conor Clifton, who was one of the few tough players we had on the roster, for a slug like Timmons just to dump salary made us an even weaker team than we already were. Even on a sorry team like the Sabres, Timmons will never amount to anything more than a 3rd pair D-man, if even that.

Getting to the point we are more shocked when they win.

Defensive giveaways. Byram tonight on 2 of them. Brutal. Other nights it's Power or even Dahlin or whoever but it happens every game. Why? Honestly I think it's a simple explanation. They are soft, they don't like to get hit, and so they panic and try to make a pass out when there isn't one. These are the type of plays that coaches like Tortorella bench players for. With the Sabres, it's a way of life.

I watched this on replay so late to the funeral but it was same same. In a way they played just as well as NJ for much of it but 2 brutal giveaways by Byram and weak D by everybody (just watching the puck instead of doing their job) on the other one and that's 3-0 game over. The rest of the goals I don't really count as much as they were pressing and playing up so inevitable if you lose possession. It's the same stuff all the time for years now. No real surprises. Mixed feelings on the Thompson fight but I do wish he'd be that guy more often. Anyone still think they will make the playoffs?

Exactly. Lots of effort but no coordination. And toward the end they sold out on scoring so hard they gave up the odd man rushes.

Here’s a crazy thought: They’re struggling to score, yet the guy who ranked third in Goals per 60 during his time with the Sabres is sitting in the AHL — while they keep rolling out a forward who has zero goals in 23 games. What are we doing here? not to mention Rosen is tied for 2nd in points per game in the AHL (players with 10 or more games played)

What are the odds that if the Sabres don't win first overall (remember who is paying GMK) but pick 2 or 3 the guy they draft does the smart thing and pulls a Lindros?
