Gorges feels the players need more of a commitment

'I think Dan Bylsma’s biggest weakness since coming to Buffalo has been bench management. I think he plays certain players way too much and Gorges falls into that category. When the veteran defenseman is on the third pair playing 15-to-17 minutes per game, he tends to be very steady and plays well. Anything above that and many times it all seems to go wrong.' … [Read more...] about Gorges feels the players need more of a commitment

Cal Petersen headed to World Championships with decision looming

'Being a Sabres draft pick back in the 5th round of 2013, Petersen can elect to become a free agent this offseason, or go back to school and become a free agent next offseason. That is if he wants to pass on Buffalo and become a free agent in the first place. One factor that could entice him to go back for his senior season, is the Olympics. With the NHL not going to South … [Read more...] about Cal Petersen headed to World Championships with decision looming

Eichel in no mood to start looking at positives

'“Some could say that I was better in a 200 foot game, a bit more consistent. The last six games I’d definitely like to have back (1-1-2), it’s tough to swallow those.”' … [Read more...] about Eichel in no mood to start looking at positives

Dan Bylsma says he's 'going forward'

'"My goal coming to the Buffalo Sabres was it was going to be a process, but be in the process of developing a winning culture and team. I think we're in that process right now, but it's one I have to be judged on. We fell short of where we thought we could be, hope we could be and I take full responsibility for that. "' … [Read more...] about Dan Bylsma says he’s ‘going forward’

Sabres take a step back

From the Locker Room: Sabres cleanout day

'"It all comes down to the guys in this room. We're the guys on the ice, we're the ones competing. [The coaches] prepared us well, they've done a good job. But it has to come from myself and the veteran guys. We have to find a way to lead and do the right things to show this group."' … [Read more...] about From the Locker Room: Sabres cleanout day

Some team leaders think there needs to be more accountability

'There was a time in the NHL that if you had one really bad shift, you’d find yourself in the minors. That can’t happen anymore, but Lehner can remember a form of that, “Coming into this league either you performed or you didn’t. If you didn’t perform, you weren’t up here, if you didn’t perform on the ice, you didn’t get out again.”' … [Read more...] about Some team leaders think there needs to be more accountability
