The first time came before Game 1, when some non-Buffalonians tuned in, heard us singing the Canadian anthem in addition to “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and took to social media to ask a reasonable question: “Why do they sing the Canadian national anthem before a game between two teams from America?” The answer is both simple and complicated: We do it because that’s who we are.
